Experimentalist OO_A LR5_N is making music in similar genres as KYOKA, AGF, Pokk!, Codex Empire, Parallx and others in the minimal techno, drone, modular and repetitive scene of today. Exploring the boundaries of electronic machinery and the ambiance of nature these new tracks from OO_A LR5_N features two opposites – Repeat and Accelerate.
Repeat is an experimental piece focusing on electricity as a means of creating almost a hypnotic state of mind. According to the artist the inspiration comes from the use of Enigma machines during the war. Like rotor machines, the Enigma machine is a combination of mechanical and electrical subsystems. The mechanical subsystem consists of a keyboard; a set of rotating disks called rotors arranged adjacently along a spindle; and one of various stepping components to turn at least one rotor with each key press. The mechanical parts act in such a way as to form a varying electrical circuit. When a key is pressed, one or more rotors move to form a new rotor configuration, and a circuit is completed. When in use the sounds are massive and very electric creating the perfect scenery for the track Repeat.
The second track is in a sense the opposite, although electronic the focus here is more on providing that 130 BPM mode needed to drive repetitiveness. Minimal techno beats are multiplied, pitched and manipulated as we move through reduction of sounds that marks the essence of Accelerate. Reduction is key to Accelerate – a piece where static, rigidly phased rhythms intertwine with one another… glitch noises which bring to mind neurotransmittorers seem like a collection of inorganic rhythms. OO_A LR5_N summarizes the idea behind Accelerate by saying; …unique geometric hard rhythmic inorganic minimalist electronic particle…originality full of experimental sound…
