Despite corona and the quarantine many of us are still coping with, some artists are more productive then ever – and one of the them is Ryuichi Sakamoto. During the covid-19 pandemic a series of collaborations has seen the light of day on Sakamoto’s Youtube channel and the latest one features none other then Laurie Anderson.

Launched last month via his YouTube account, Sakamoto’s incomplete project has seen him “document the sensations [he’s] been feeling.” Speaking at the time of the project’s launch, Sakamoto added: “I invited a few of my musician friends to do this with me. I wanted to share the results with you all.”

Alva Noto, Lenzan Kuda and Christian Fennesz have all already contributed to the series, which also comes with video art by New York collective Zakkubalan. Arto Lindsay features alongside Sakamoto, Anderson and Zakkubalan on this latest instalment of incomplete, which was premiered on June 24 via the Festival de Cannes / Marche Du Film website.

This is the latest project to emerge from Sakamoto who’s kept busy in lockdown with the sharing of a concert video last month called Playing The Piano For The Isolated, and an older concert video called Playing The Orchestra 2014 in April. He also scored Luca Guadagnino’s latest short film, The Staggering Girl, earlier this year.
