Roland TR909 for iPhone and iPod Touch, yesss!!
Here’s another addition to iPhone / iPod touch, the author of the beautiful, minimal iPhoneSynth has created a drum machine inspired by Roland’s classic TR-909. Basic features, but it could be fun to hash out a drum pattern for your next tune on the subway: IR-909 is a drum machine for the iPhone inspired by the Roland TR-909. IR-909 features a 16-step sequencer, 4 patterns, 8 different drum sounds and the ability to adjust tempo(BPM) and shuffle amount.

Super Mario goes techno :-)

Found this little crazy video the other day and I must say it is facinating how well the sync goes with the game. I am not sure it is possible to do this kind of automation on NES, but if it does I am sure it will open up doors for many nice chip tunes in the Nintendo world going forward. Enjoy – it is totally whacko and it goes on and on and on

Controlling Ableton with your iPhone
[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RDtdxVJXn-E]
How to control Ableton Live with your iPhone

- Jailbreak your iPhone with ZiPhone (download for Windows and Mac)
- Download Masayuki Akamatsu’s akaRemote (download .zip here) and upload it to your applications folder with Fugu (Alternatively, use the Installer app that comes with ZiPhone, and find akaRemote under the “Network” category)
- Install i3L Midi Bridge software for Mac OS X (download .dmg here) This will allow you to intercept the controller data being sent from the iPhone
- Open akaRemote on your iPhone, and go to the configuration page. Double tap the series of numbers after “Host Address”. Change this to the ip address of the computer that will receive the MIDI data. On most home wireless networks, it will be something like 192.168.0.X, or 192.168.2.X on other routers. I don’t know if this will work without a wireless network router.

Free Moog VST
If you are looking for a free Moog emulator in VSTi format, the Minimogue VA is a cpu friendly synth producing lead, FX and bass using the same sound architecture of the real Minimoog. It is programmed to be as expressive as possible. It is created by Voltkitchen group with Synthedit, a Modular Synthesiser for Windows XP and Vista that allows you to create your own synth and save it as a VST.
From the Minimogue’s site: “The first 3 rows of knobs represent the original Minimoog. The only additions here is a button for retrig and legato. The original Minimoog is always set to legato. Also there are sliders for fine tuning that is not present on the Minimoog, but these works just like the pitch knob, only that it is more sensitive. Its just there to help you, because the Mini moog sounds best when it is almost in tune, but not 100%. Tuning plays a big part in the MM sound. Also release in the envelope generators is added. The upper section is where you create sounds.
The last row of knobs represent new features not present on the original Minimoog: midi control, oscillator sync, LFO, autopan, overdrive, chorus and a delay section that you can sync to host BPM. The LFO has 3 functions. At low level settings it is intended to simulate the small tuning and instabilities in an original MM. At high level settings it simulates the tweaking of a knob so that you can focus on the playing. The third function is to give oscillatorsync pitch variations to work with. It also syncs to host BPM. ”

Reason tutorial – Using granular effects and timestretching
Since I have been asked quite a bit about granular synthesis in Reason I thought I’d share a couple of good tutorials on the subject
A demonstration of a custom granular audio manipulation system in Reason 4.0. A variety of patches based on this system are currently in development.

The Doepfer Module explained :-)
Deep bass nine process sound in Doepfer Module and Dalek,Note control and Gate Doepfer MAQ 16/3,Gate control Morphing Filter A-107
[youtube=http://youtube.com/watch?v=3Pf8EWIG9dc]
The fascia of the A102 uses a standard Doepfer VCF layout with an audio input and output, controls for audio level, cutoff frequency, resonance and one fixed and two variable frequency-modulation CV inputs. The circuitry is based on an old analogue low-pass filter design utilising an arrangement of diodes as an element of the filter control stage, as opposed to transistors or chips. This 18dB-per-octave design is supposed to impart a particular character to the filter, and I’d certainly agree — I thought it was an unusual but not unpleasant sound. Fully open, the filter exhibits plenty of top end, which can sound a little buzzy when using raw square or sawtooth waveforms. The bottom end isn’t nearly as interesting until the resonance is turned up, when some unusual interactions come into play. And adding more resonance introduces an increasingly unstable quality to the sound. At maximum resonance, the filter sounds like it is being overdriven, but with a superimposed undulating whistling effect. When it is self-oscillating (and without an input signal) it produces an ordinary sine-wave output.
Nebula-H announces third album
Belgian EBM act Nebula-H has announced that its third album, rH, will be released May 23 on Alfa Matrix. Nebula-H has welcomed a third member, Noa (Propulsion), for this release. The new album completes Nebula-H’s “H” trilogy, which began with the band’s debut, H, in 2002, followed by 2004’s H20. rH will also be available as a two-disc boxed set, featuring additional tracks and collaborations with bands such as Trimetrick, Psy’Aviah and Ex.Es. For more information, visit the following link >>
Belgian electro commando NEBULA-H finally returns with the 3rd and final chapter of their “H” trilogy. Half way between the “H” debut album’s EBM darkness and the “H20” album’s heavy danceable feel, this new album reveals a harsher tone and a straighter attitude, reflecting the ‘rage’ feel that the band has been going through over the last 2 years…
NEBULA-H has now been expanded to a trio with the addition of Noa (PROPULSION) as the main songwriter while Mika Goedrijk (THIS MORN O’MINA, PO(W)DER-PUSSY, etc.) has mostly focused his expertise on the production aspect of the album this time. And as usual frontman Deranged Psyche (ex-FUZE BOX MACHINE vocalist) entertains you with mysterious and surrealistic lyrics inspired by painters, movie directors and other forms of art.
This limited 2CD boxset features exclusive tracks and special additional collaborations with other Belgian bands like TRIMETRICK, PSY’AVIAH and EX.ES (the brand-new side-project of Noa and Deranged Psyche). This limited bonus album reveals the hidden (musical) side of NEBULA-H, read by this: some more rage!
