Once again Swedish trio Daybehavior shows their massive skill in quality songwriting and top-notch production. This time Julian Brandt (former member of Kamera, Bobby, solo-career and currently, (May 2013), in a project with Marina Schiptjenko (Page)) visits on guest vocals in this stunning duet with Paulinda.
The B-side of the single “Luci Della Citta” is a new recording sung by Paulinda in italian.

Free polyphonic synth for iPad – LH Rubbing
Here’s a nice Friday morning treat for you all iPad synth guys out there 
Liu Hao has released LH Rubbing – a free polyphonic software synthesizer app for iPad.
Here’s what Hao has to say about LH Rubbing:
- There are three wave oscillators, one noise oscillator, two LFOs and one three type embedded filter (low-pass, hi-pass and bandpass).
- Each wave oscillator can generate three kinds of waveform which are triangle, square and saw wave.
- LFO can be attached to different modul for different modulation or control such as OSC Pitch, PW, Filter Cutoff Frequency, Filter Resonance and OSC Output Mixing.
- The frequency and amplitude of the 1st LFO can be modified by the 2nd LFO.
- Pitch, Filter Cutoff Frequency and Resonance can be controlled by the ADSR envelope generator.
- The Keyboard Rubbing brings up vibrato while control the vibrato rate and depth.
New Roland sound library – lots of free stuff to download
Roland today introduced Axial – an official Roland sound library download site.
The site offers a variety of free sound libraries.
According to the company, “Axial is your home for an ever-expanding selection of unique and exciting new sounds for your Roland instruments.”

Time machine: HOHNER STRING PERFORMER String Machine 1977
This german early eighties string keyboard was one of the last variations on building a string ensemble keyboard with or without some extras added. The Hohner String Performer is a string machine made in Germany. It has strings in 3 footages (CELLO, VIOLA, VIOLIN), which are mixable via volume faders. Also CLAVICHORD and PIANO presets, all free mixable. Each half of the keyboard has these features. A bass preset can be added to the left half of the keyboard. Like most string machines, the keyboard is split in the middle so that you can adjust the volumes seperately for the lower and upper part of the keyboard. The sliders for adjusting the volume of each basic sound works upside-down, like drawbars, i.e. you pull the slider towards yourself for raising the volume of a sound. Also, each sound can be muted with a corresponding button. The Performer has a minimal amount of control for adjusting the sound: only the release (called “sustain” on the Performer) time can be controlled. Also, the ensemble effect is a part of the string sound and cannot be switched off or variated. Fortunately, the string sound is really good.

But we didn’t stop there. In 2002 the Minimoog had a second coming in the form of the Voyager. This synth has its own wild character. Taking a 2011 Limited Edition Voyager XL, we performed the same comprehensive session, creating an identical sample footprint.

In-depth with Reaktor’s SPIRAL and Creative Sampling
Spiral sequencer, a generative MIDI sequencer developed by Lazyfish (Alexander Potekhin) for Animated Circuits. Spiral introduces a unique, intuitive approach to music, with concentric sequencing lanes and advanced algorithms that create fluctuating, kaleidoscopic melodies. Spiral is a MIDI instrument, so it doesn’t actually produce any sound but rather acts as a sequencer, triggering other instruments. Spiral features various algorithms to create patterns and many of its parameters can be controlled from KORE or KORE Player.
This is a quick video to demonstrate how to add your own samples to the Frame 3 creative sampler for Reaktor by dragging them into the sample map from the built-in Reaktor disk browser.
