Gary Numan and Heaven 17 team up with Little Boots and La Roux
Electronic pioneer Gary Numan is joining forces with the BBC’s Sound of 2009 winner Little Boots, while new wavers Heaven 17 and electro-popsters La Roux will unite for two special 6 Music Live Combos.
The unique collaborations will be recorded at the iconic studios of Maida Vale on 7 December and 26 January and broadcast on the station on Friday 11 December and Friday 29 January.
The format sees both artists perform three songs of their own, provide guest vocals on one of each other’s tracks and then do a cover of someone else’s song together.
Frankie Goes (to Hollywood) to the Year 2009 – revamped
Yet another 80’s classic being pimped to fit the new millenium, but apart from adding more bass beats it seems not much has happened in the dance scene in the past 20 years
I would have expected more, especially since the original song still stands strong
Fancy wallpapers of your favorite synthpop artists?

Stereoklang has put together a page dedicated to synthpop nostalgica. The page will be filled over time with things like; what synthesizers did Kraftwerk use in this or this video/gig etc.
In the mean time check out some of the uploaded synthpop wallpapers that has been gathered around the web and if you have any of those orginal artists you would like to submit we are more than welcome to upload them as well, e.g. YMO, Logic System, Yazoo, Welle:Erdball, JM Jarre etc

I will never be 80's synthpop nostalgic again – after this
Found this video on Matrixsynth while I was listening to some old synthpop classics on my iPhone and a minute later I stopped listening to my iPhone – my nostalgia tour came to a serious halt. Synthpop wasn´t better in the 80’s, hehe
Well you might enjoy the ARP Pro-DGX featured, but that is about it
Check this out (remeber those old dance moves, yikes):

Elli & Jacno was a French 1980s electro-pop group. They were quite successful in France and to some extent in Britain, having been featured once on the front page of Melody Maker magazine.
Cheers Ola
Too old to tour? Simple Minds and OMD

Following their upcoming album “Graffiti Soul”, Simple Minds will play seven dates in the UK this December. Adding to the value, OMD will be special guests during the tour.
– Particularly in these times it is vitally important for us to give as much value to our audience as possible, says Jim Kerr of Simple Minds.
He even hints that the bands may play something together.
Simple Minds plan to add more dates and extending it to a world tour, but nothing is official yet. It’s also uncertain if OMD will be a part of the world tour.
“Graffiti Soul” will be released on May 25.
I guess it is too much to hope for that some of their really great ancient stuff will be on the playlist, such as:

Yes its true – they are back on stage – after what -20 years or so!! As you can see from the live performance video above, they have a contemporary light show and Vince Clarke is laptop based and running Logic and various soft-synths.
Native Instruments recently posted an interview with Vince Clarke on their site here
Well enjoy and make sure to find out more here >> http://www.yazooinfo.com/.
Fan of Joy Division?
Psyche sent me a tip announcing the release of their cover of Disorder by Joy Division to celebrate 25 years rocking out. Anyone who can survive 25 years doing this stuff deserves massive respect. You can enjoy the track here:

“Psyche‘s new single for 2008, a cover version of the great Joy Division showcasing a whole new sound for Psyche produced by 2Grad and released as a 7″ single from the forthcoming album. Digital Download here: http://indiestore.7digital.com/psyche”
YMO >> Logic System
Justcame to think about it, if you are a fan of YMO, just like me than you really should check this old 80’s band out. They are especially good if you are studying since this music is good enough to get you into a relaxed moe when trying to focus, but “bad” enough not to get you engaged and start sing a long (this is especially tru since it is instrumental, at least mostly, and you do not understand any of it since it is in japanese.
So let me introduce one of my old time favorites the Logic System
Enjoy and have a nice weekend…

Finally!! YMO reunited
Wish I had enough resources to attend, anyone feel like sponsoring me, hehe
Seminal Japanese electronic act Yellow Magic Orchestra will reunite for a performance at this year’s Meltdown festival, taking place June 13-22 at the Southbank Centre in London, UK. Founded by experimental composer Ryuichi Sakamoto, Yellow Magic Orchestra last performed at the Live Earth festival in 2007. This year’s Meltdown festival, curated by trip-hop act Massive Attack, will also feature shows by acts such as Gang of Four, The Tom Tom Club and George Clinton, plus a special performance of the Blade Runner film soundtrack played by the Heritage Orchestra and mixed by Massive Attack.
