Key Range Bar:Â The range bar let’s you instantly select a pitch threshold for the fretboard. You can change as you play. A smaller range makes more room for your fingers to add vibrato to your sound.
Pitch Slider:Â You can bend all sounds currently playing by using the slider bar. Releasing the slider from the high right side gives you a slow dramatic pitch fall you can add expressions to as it falls automatically.
Sun Propellor:Â This propeller always affects your solo finger only. Raising the sun on the screen causes the propellors pitch to go higher or lower. Left-to-right affects the propellors speed in real time giving you an powerful solo button you and squeech out a melody with.
Moon Propellor:Â The moon affects everything the sun does not. This gives you a more rhythmic effect since it broadcasts through the remaining fingers. It’s speed and pitch are controlling similar to the sun. Double-click to turn on pitch snapping and the propellor will conform to the nearest half step. This allows you to form any triad sequence and play it with one finger setting the root note. Both propellors really open Sqeech up as an expressive electronic vocal.Â

Melotron returns with new album/compilation – “Werkschau”
The german electropop act Melotron return with a brand new album/compilation later in June. For “Werkschau” the band completely re-recorded a selection of their best songs plus fan favorites. For this they teamed up with the producer Dirk Riegner (Heppner, amongst others). They also recorded new tracks which makes the album also more than interesting for those expecting all new material.
“Werkschau” will also be released as a deluxe double disc, featuring a second CD full of (remastered) rarities from the band’s history – you can order that limited edition right now. Right after the completion of this album, the band actually already started on new material too, so you won’t have too wait too long to get more new material.
Inside Moog’s new Emerson Modular synth
At MoogFest 2014, Peter Kirn gets a tour of Moog’s mammoth new tribute synth, a part-for-part reconstruction of Keith Emerson’s iconic Moog Modular.
In 1969, Emerson incorporated the Moog modular synthesiser into his battery of keyboards. While other artists such as The Beatles and The Rolling Stones had used the Moog in studio recordings, Emerson was the first artist to tour with one. Emerson’s use of the Moog was so important to the development of new models that he was given prototypes, such as the Constellation he took on one tour[8] and the Apollo, which had its debut on the opening track of Brain Salad Surgery, “Jerusalem.”
The Moog was a temperamental device; the oscillators went out of tune with temperature change. Emerson:Â “I had my faithful roady Rocky tune the instrument to A 440 just prior to the audience coming in, but once the audience came into the auditorium and the temperature rose up then everything went out of tune.”
His willingness to experiment with the Moog led to unexpected results, such as the time he stumbled into the signature sound for Hoedown, one of ELP’s most popular tunes. Emerson:Â “We’d started working on that arrangement and then I hit, I don’t know what, I switched a blue button and I put a patch cord in there, but anyway ‘whoooeee.'”
The so-called “Monster Moog,” built from numerous modules, weighed in at a whopping 550 pounds, stood 10 feet tall and took 4 roadies to move. Even with its unpredictability, it became an indispensable component of not only ELP’s concerts but also Emerson’s.
He is known for his technical skill and for his live antics, including using knives to wedge down specific keys of hisHammond organ during solos, playing the organ upside down while having it lie over him and backwards while standing behind it, and has cited guitarist Jimi Hendrix and English organist Don Shinn as his chief theatrical influences. He also employed a special rig to rotate his piano end-over-end while he was playing it, though this of course is purely for visual effect, as a piano cannot operate as an instrument while upside down.
