VotanDSP has announced the release of version 2.0 of Votan Telepathy, a telepathically integrated synthesis suite for iPad, iPhone & OS X Audio Unit, offering a perfect blend of traditional algorithms and cutting edge integration.
Votan Telepathy is a powerful synthesis engine built on top of The Votan Platform. It is available as an iOS (iPhone/iPad) app and also as an 32/64 bit Audio Unit. Users can experience Telepathy with either of these platforms alone, but when they are used together is when the real magic happens.
Telepathy iOS and Telepathy AU (Audio Unit) are seamlessly linked via The Votan Platform Cloud and Control features, offering near zero latency control over an infinite series of Telepathy AU instances direct from the iPad touch screen. Users can create new a sound on iOS that instantly integrates into their DAW session.
A perfect blend of traditional algorithms and cutting edge integration Votan Telepathy has a subtractive synthesis engine containing quad arrays (4x) of Oscillators, Filters, LFO’s, Envelopes, and FX Blocks. These sound shaping modules are built around an 8 Slot Modulation Matrix which routes the modulators to any Telepathy Synth or FX parameter destination. Of particular delight is the free flowing nature of the Oscillator section. It unlocks the normally static oscillator frequency parameter from standard MIDI key tracking. When users switch off the Amp Envelope they have free playing waveforms at their fingertips which combined with the dual oscillator FM, offer some serious dimensions in audio rate wave modulations normally only seen on modular analogue synthesisers.

LP-5 and MoDrum with Ableton Link

Ableton Link is a new technology that synchronizes beat, phase and tempo of Ableton Live and Link-enabled iOS apps over a wireless network. It lets you play devices together with the freedom of a live band. Anyone can start and stop their part while others keep playing, and anyone can adjust the tempo and the rest will follow.
You can use Link to play with several instances of Ableton Live, with Live and iOS apps, or even without Live in your setup: using Link- enabled apps on multiple devices, or multiple apps on the same device.

Made from circuit models. Structurally, there’s an antialiased oscillator, feeding a partially temperature-stabilised transistor-ladder VCF (which can be heated), feeding an interesting old pitch-shifter in full-feedback-fun mode.Plus an LFO for some movement, and AudioBus compatibility. Sounds vary from early Dr Who to world-ending cataclysms.
There are no presets because what you hear is determined by more than just the positions of the knobs. It’s what you turned and when. There’s no MIDI input because it would be entirely out of character; once you hear it, you should understand pretty quick.”

ROLAND TR-77 Analog Rhythm Box 1973 | HD DEMO |
The Roland Rhythm 77 (exact model name: TR-77) is a non programmable analog rhythm box. It is the predecessor of the Roland CR series, some drum sounds are quite similar. All rhythms are mixable. Volume sliders for BASSDRUM, SNARE, GUIRO, MARACAS/HIHAT/CYMBAL allow more variety of the patterns. The TR-77 has that classic Roland analog sound. Roland choosed the flat design to fit on top of organs.
I played the TR-77 with a small amout of ambience from a Lexicon MPX-500. Beginning at 4:10 and in the intro I played the TR-77 through a Korg SDD-3000 delay.

First try out of a clone board I am working on, based on the Boss PC-2 / Amdek PCK-100. Couple of differences (mainly due to scarcity of the BA662A VCA chip) and some experimenting with CV control. I will eventually be selling these as kits, but not quite there yet! Enjoy the clip – the Cv really does open this thing up!
Dynameter – new dynamics effect plugin for Windows and Mac
MeterPlugs has announced the release of Dynameter, a new dynamics effect plugin for Windows and Mac.
“Stop worrying about loudness, start succeeding with dynamics”. That’s the message behind this new product from the team who created the award-winning “Perception” plugin last year.
More and more, loudness is not an important factor in the sound or success of music. As loudness management (normalization) becomes commonplace in broadcast, radio and streaming services, the relative playback loudness of music is determined by the broadcaster and player. For mastering engineers, the challenge going forward is not to maximize loudness but to optimize dynamics.
Dynameter offers a real-time display of your music’s dynamics, beat by beat, or over a whole song or album. The plugin helps you achieve competitive dynamics and consistent playback volume across online streaming services. It measures dynamics using PSR (Peak to Short-term loudness ratio), which is based on the ITU loudness standard, displaying it via a unique history graph and allowing users to choose their own “dynamics target” for their music.
Dynameter was designed by mastering engineer Ian Shepherd, who runs the popular Production Advice website and founded Dynamic Range Day, and was developed by MeterPlugs.
“I’ve found over the years that PSR is a really great way of assessing the dynamics of your music and helping you find the perfect balance between loudness and dynamics,” says Shepherd.
“People are telling us they love Dynameter,” says Ian Kerr of MeterPlugs. “It’s very easy to use. Just choose a PSR target and keep the history graph from dipping below it. You can compare your music to all of your favourites, and it becomes really adictive!”
