Moog sound battle
MOOG Source (1981) vs. MOOG Prodigy (1979)

This demo video only show the character of the two synths with near indentical sound programs.

The Prodigy sound is more dry/raw and the sync sound is really stunning.
The Source has a lot more low end in the sound and the sound character is a bit different to the other Moog synths.

Both are fantastic synths.

Steinberg-Retrologue-2-Oscillators-700x486

Steinberg has announced the release of Retrologue 2, the second iteration of the virtual analog synthesizer, which now offers more oscillators and filter types, a novel Resonator, programmable Arpeggiator, new means of modulation, additional effects and hundreds of exciting new presets.

Compatible with both VST and AU hosts, this versatile synthesizer conveys ample power and provides a vast range of sounds that add to its tonal richness and complexity. Picking up where the highly acclaimed previous version left off, Retrologue 2 meticulously emulates the sound of analog circuitry and its associated warmth.

Three virtual analog oscillators provide up to eight de-tunable voices alongside an additional sub oscillator and noise generator. The filter section comprises 24 filter shapes and five distortion modes. The ultra-flexible Arpeggiator, a powerful modulation system and comprehensive set of effects, including reverb, delay and the innovative three-band Resonator, stretch the creative envelope, only to be complemented by the extensive collection of exclusive presets.

A 30-day trial version of Retrologue 2 for evaluation without feature restrictions is available from the product pages.

“Our goal was to increase the sonic spectrum of Retrologue 2 with new features without losing the intuitive concept of the instrument,” said Matthias Quellmann, Senior Marketing Manager for Steinberg. “The result is a full-fledged virtual analog synthesizer with an amazing level of quality and performance.”

Steinberg today have also released a point update to their Cubase Pro and Artist music production systems. Cubase Pro 8.5 and Cubase Artist 8.5 include Retrologue 2 and many other features and enhancements.

Retrologue 2 is available for purchase for 99.99 EUR. The update from version 1 is 49.99 EUR. Prices including German VAT.

Customers who have purchased the first version of Retrologue from October 15th, 2015, are entitled to a free downloadable Grace Period update to Retrologue 2. Customers who already have purchased Absolute 2 including the first version of Retrologue receive a free update to Retrologue 2 automatically.

H3000 Band Delays – unique multi-effect plugin, originally included in Eventide’s Anthology X bundle

Eventide-H3000-Band-Delays

Eventide has announced the release of the H3000 Band Delays, a unique multi-effect plugin, originally included in Eventide’s Anthology X bundle.

Engineers, producers and musicians, have called the Band Delays one of the ‘secret weapons’ of Eventide’s H3000 Ultra-Harmonizer. Band Delays is designed to take an instrument or vocal and slice it in both time and frequency creating up to 8 distinct voices defined by frequency, resonance, filter type, delay time, volume and panning.

Since each parameter can be automated and manipulated in real time via MIDI, a user can play the effect like an instrument using a keyboard controller to musically rhythmic results. Alternately, the H3000’s Function Generator can be used to build automated complex movement synced to the beat. The 80 included presets offer a wide-range of starting points for this powerful and unique effect.

“With the release of our Anthology X bundle, a number of users asked that Eventide consider unbundling Band Delays,” commented Nalia Sanchez. “We listened.”

H3000 Band Delays features

  • 8 voices, each of which can be altered by frequency, resonance, filter type, delay time, volume and panning.
  • Filters assignable as band pass, low pass, high pass, all pass, or notch filter.
  • Assign the H3000 Function Generator to several parameters to create movement and bring life to drums and stringed instruments.
  • Beat grid gives visual representation for creating unique rhythms from your sound.
  • Route a MIDI keyboard to the plugin to play the filters as musical notes.
  • Includes presets from original H3000 hardware in addition to many new inspiring choices.
  • MixLock keeps the wet/dry mix of the effect static as you scroll through presets or user-defined snapshots.

H3000 Band Delays for Windows and Mac (VST/AU/AAX) is available for purchase for the introductory price of $99 USD until December 31st, 2015 (regular $199 USD).

Clicks-1024x605

Clicks has been working for almost 3 years on its debut album “Glitch Machine”, but it’s finally there (in February that is). The trio (including Controlled Collapse member Kr-lik) brings a hybrid of traditional EBM and Electroclash with vocoded vocals which reminds of Daft Punk of course.

The album comes as a normal CD (available here) and as a 2CD set (available here) including a 6-tracks bonus-CD and 4 postcards. The 2CD set only has a very small run of 200 copies, so if you want one, you might want to speed things up :). You can get your copy right here.
