DIY: Selfmade Synthesizer by Kurt Diedrich
Selfmade Sythesizer planed, build and played by Kurt Diedrich
Kurt says in the video that it’s modelled after a Minimoog with discrete circuits (no special ICs), but he mentions only one oscillator specifically (but later you hear a second one), a filter (ladder presumably), vca and two envelopes, which are ADSR not ADS. The oscillators have switchable waveforms, octave selectors and frequency (LFO or third oscillator?) and pulsewidth modulation. There’s also portamento.
KORG is releasing a 4-voice analogue synth: Minilogue
It appears as a new polyphonic analog synth will be making its debut at the 2016 NAMM Show – the Korg Minilogue.
Unofficial images has leaked out, via multiple sources, of the Korg Minilogue synth – an as-yet to be announced keyboard.
Hans Wurman – The Moog Strikes Bach [Original German Stereo LP] (1969)

There’s a bit of crackle here and there, mainly at the end of B2 but I decided to leave it to avoid overprocessing.

Video: Jean-Michel Jarre and Laurie Anderson (RBMA Paris 2015)
This talk was held on Nov 16th as part of RBMA Paris 2015.
In the immediate aftermath of the devastating attacks in Paris, the Red Bull Music Academy and two of its lecture guests, Jean-Michel Jarre and Laurie Anderson, decided to sit down on the couch to discuss music and its role in uncertain times. Having been friends and collaborators for decades, Jarre and Anderson’s understanding of each others’ work and ideas weaves this lecture together: with realism, wisdom and humor.
Although they sit on the couch casually, and as equals, Jarre and Anderson have had globally acclaimed careers that have spanned music, art and performance since the 1970s. When you look at the current landscape of live electronic music performance, everyone from EDM superstars to underground techno DJs owe a huge debt to how Jarre visualized and performed classic albums such as Oxygène and Équinoxe to millions of people. Today, Jarre continues to innovate new ways of composing and performing electronic music with rapidly developing visual technologies: a subject he delves into in this lecture.
Anderson has always had a lot of fun playing with people’s perceptions of what a music piece could be. Originally a sculptor before she started crafting her unique soundscapes, her calm, syncopated delivery conjures all manner of tripped-out dream imagery – evocative and vague enough to qualify as fully-blown artistic statements. Widely influential for her use of early samplers and invented electronic instruments, Anderson has collaborated with Brian Eno, Andy Kaufman and late husband Lou Reed – dancing her own path through art and music with a sense of wonder for life and nature.

Creating sounds with the Moog Sub 37 is something natural for me. From the first day I got this little monster in 2014, I could not resist experimenting with it and applying all my knowledge of sound design to it.
As a beta tester for Moog, I’ve been building these presets while testing their new OS and software editor.
The result is a collection of 35 presets containing Bass, Leads, Percussions, FX and other amazing sounds!. Some of these sounds have been created to be also played with the modulation wheel and aftertouch. If you’d like to experiment beyond and also learn the logic behind, these presets are a good starting point for it.
Check out the video to get a more accurate idea of how they sound like.
And please, feel free to leave your thoughts about them and suggest presets you would like me to do in the near future.

Decimort 2 – new high quality bit crusher effect plugin for Windows and Mac
D16 Group has announced the release of Decimort 2, a high quality bit crusher effect plugin for Windows and Mac.
Decimort (available as part of the SilverLine collection of plugins from D16 Group) is a premium grade bit crusher and sample rate reducer with some additional, unconventional features.
The advanced signal processing algorithms within Decimort simulate the complex behavior of the entire sampling path that exists in every AD/DA converter. Decimort has zero internal aliasing—in fact, the only aliasing present is the emulated aliasing is a result of internal resampling. Unwelcome artifacts are completely absent in the processed signal.
In addition, Decimort is equipped with analog-like filters with adjustable resonance, working in pre-resampling or post- resampling mode that allow further sculpting of the signal.
Changes in Decimort 2
- Two optional anti-alias filters – A very steep low-pass pre filter (Approximative Filter) coupled with the resampling frequency that removes all harmonic content above it, ensuring no aliasing will appear below this frequency in the spectrum. A further post filter (Image filter), also synchronized with the resampler, gives control over amount of aliasing images appearing above resampling frequency when enabled.
- Adjustable Jitter – Feature which introduces short-period, random fluctuations to the resampling frequency, producing different then downsampling type of harmonic distortion.
- Two quantization methods – Two available quantization methods; the mid-raiser and mid- treat decimation algorithms, each of them characterized by a drastically different dynamics response.
- Controllable dithering – Dithering was conceptually developed as means for reducing the audible quantization errors by masking the harmonic distortions they cause. Controllable dithering allows to increase number of ways in which sound can be (mal)treated.
- Tag-based preset browser.
- Two alternative GUI sizes.
- MIDI-learn functionality throughout.
Decimort 2 (VST/AU/AAX) is available for purchase for 39 EUR/$49 USD/£32 GBP inc. VAT where applicable. Previous customers of D16 Group products are eligible for a discount on Decimort 2. Version 1 of Decimort is now discontinued (support will remain available until June 30th, 2016).
Teaser: Coding Cod and the MIDI Link Sync
MIDI Link Sync will provide an easy way to synchronise your MIDI clock and Ableton Link timeline, in either direction.
This is a preview of the app that will be available soon!
