Sanford Reverb – new free true stereo reverb effect plugin for Windows
Sanford Sound Design has released version 2.1 of Sanford Reverb, a free true stereo reverb effect plugin for Windows.
It is capable of simulating everything from small rooms to giant cavernous spaces. Its sound is dense, clean, and crisp making it perfect for most situations.
Left and right input channels each have a set of 3 early reflections that can be independently set. The filter section lets you shape the tone of the reverb’s output, and damping is provided to simulate wall absorption. Together these features let you shape the reverb sound to simulate almost any room.
Modulation is also provided to add motion to the reverb tail. The result is a more animated and lively reverb.
Sanford Reverb is available for download for Windows (32/64-bit VST).

Prankophone is a sound object being a hybrid of synthesizer, telephone and logic module. The main principle of the object’s functioning is as follows: depending on the current mode, the apparatus calls to random or pre-defined recipients and plays them algorithmic melodies created from their phone numbers. The speakers transmit both the synthesized sounds and the sound from answering person. The common sound layer is involving a random recipient who doesn’t suspect anything. The person who answers the phone can’t hear any other sounds except for the synthesized ones.

Ableton has announced Live 9.5 and Push 2
Ableton has announced Live 9.5, a free upgrade for Live users that introduces a number of new features. The Simpler device has been overhauled, waveform displays and metering have been improved and new analog-modelled filter modes have been introduced. Designed in collaboration with Cytomic, the filters are integrated within the Sampler, Simpler, Operator and Auto Filter devices.
Live 9.5 introduces new analog-modeled filters based on classic vintage hardware models that will self-resonate, feedback, and distort beautifully. These filters were built in collaboration with Cytomic and are included in Simpler, Sampler, Operator, and Auto Filter.
Simpler, Live’s powerful but easy-to-use sampling instrument, has been completely overhauled with a new interface, warping, slicing, and new analog-modeled filters built in conjunction with Cytomic.

Ableton also introduced Push 2 – a major update to their hardware controller for Live. The second-generation Push features a larger, multi-color display, improved hands-on sampling options and softer, more expressive pads.
Ableton is offering a trade-in program for Push 1 users wanting to upgrade.
Owners of the original Push can trade in their unit for a 30% discount on the new model. Returned Push 1s will be refurbished and donated to music education programs for young people.

Comprehensive map featuring the history of electronic music
A map featuring the history of electronic music, and is called “Electric Love Blueprint – A History of Electronic Music” and is for sale for 35 UK£ at Dorothy, a Manchester based art shop annex studio.
The 60 x 80cm big poster is based on the circuit board of a theremin, one of the first electronic musical instruments ever built. The blueprint features over 200 inventors, innovators, artists, composers and musicians who (in the opinion of designer James Quail) have been pivotal to the evolution of electronic music from the invention of the earliest known sound recording device in 1857 to the present day.
Key pioneers featured in the map include the usual suspects Léon Theremin, Bob Moog, Karlheinz Stockhausen, John Cage, Brian Eno, Kraftwerk and Aphex Twin. The print loosely groups genres, from the obscure Musique Concrète (Pierre Schaeffer) to the better known Krautrock (Kraftwerk, Can, Tangerine Dream, Neu!, Faust, Cluster, Harmonia and Amon Düül II) synthpop (Gary Numan, Human League, Depeche Mode, Yazoo and Pet Shop Boys) and electronica (New Order, The Prodigy, Massive Attack, LCD Sound System and Daft Punk).
There are also references to the experimental BBC Radiophonic Workshop and the record labels Mute and Warp.

Although conventional research estimates our hearing range (tested with sine waves) to be within 20 Hz to 20 KHz, higher resolution audio recording formats and mic/speaker technology, extending upper harmonics content beyond 20 KHz, may enable the perception of new interactive and integrated sonic complexities within our auditory range. These new qualities may be perceived as gestalt (sum greater than the parts), and dynamic (evolving, ‘organic’ color/shape changes over space and time) qualities of multidimensional sound.

Moog Mother-32 (x3) – Tribute to Seb’s Mos-Lab Demo
This is a very rough and sloppily played tribute to seb17320’s excellent “Mos-Lab 15 demo” video. I wanted to see if I could pull-off something close using three Moog Mother-32s. The playing is really rough (due to attempting to play a solo on the little buttons instead of keys) the sequence is not very close to the original, and the video editing in general is crap (I couldn’t figure out how to do Seb’s 4-way split screen) but I hope everyone can appreciate the spirit that this demo was intended in! Arjen Schat | Sequential Session: Komplex Sequencer
Complex patch with the Koma Komplex Sequencer controlling a Doepfer Dark Energy and Moog Little Phatty. I start with a simple scale on A and modulate its transpositions with a sequence on B. C and D both have a short sequence but the CV and gate are cross-mixed whilst a similar transposition modulation applies.
