Hologram – new creative Audio Unit effect processor that re-synthesizes the sound in real time

Sinevibes-Hologram

Sinevibes has announced the release of Hologram, a creative Audio Unit effect processor that re-synthesizes the sound in real time.

It does this by splitting the input signal into multiple frequency bands, analyzing their dynamics, and then recreating the signal’s spectrum with an array of sine oscillators. The result is a wide variety of pleasantly smooth synthetic tones whose spectral and dynamic characteristics are controlled by the input audio. To take it even further, Hologram also has two highly flexible, multi-waveform modulators that apply rhythmic motion to its re-synthesis engine.

The plugin features a color-coded interface with sharp graphics, handy parameter value displays and lively animations. A large spectrogram view allows to precisely see what the effect is doing. And as usual with Sinevibes software, Hologram supports Retina screens and offers great responsiveness even on old or low-spec hardware.

Hologram features

  • Spectrum analyzer with up to 64 frequency bands.
  • Sine oscillator array for real-time signal re-synthesis.
  • Two separate modulators with 8 waveforms, adjustable chaos, lag and curve.
  • Advanced transport sync algorithm with support for tempo and time signature automation.

Hologram for Mac (32/64 bit AU) is available for purchase for $29 USD.

Comprehensive review of the Casio PT-80 keyboard

September 9, 2015 · Posted in Uncategorized · Comments Off on Comprehensive review of the Casio PT-80 keyboard

A full review of the Casiotone PT-80 keyboard from 1984.

The PT-80 consists of a 2 octave monophonic keyboard with the sounds: piano, harpsichord, organ, violin, flute, clarinet, trumpet and celeste. The small keys on the left side is an auto chord section that is synchronized to the rhytm section. The rhytms are: Rock, disco, 16-beat, 2-beat swing, 4-beat swing, samba, bossanova, beguine, slow-rock, march, tango, waltz.

The rhythms are good and a useful thing is the ability to make fill-ins. If you, for instance, have choosen a disco rhythm and it is running, then press the disco button again and the fill-in comes.

Another feature of this model is the changeable ROM-pack that contains 4 melodies. These melodies can be played by the instrument alone or as a two way act: The instrument supplies the accompaniment, you do the melody.

Manufactured in a limited edition of 2,000 copies only, it is exclusively available through PledgeMusic. A picture disc capturing the live recordings of the “Dazzle Ships” tracks is also available on 750 copies.

September 8, 2015 · Posted in Uncategorized · Comments Off on 7 Minutes with an Ipad Synth – Strng

This week: Strng Synthesizer from Erik Sigth. What is Strng?

“Strng is a string synthesiser inspired by the karplus-strong alghorithm. The physical modelling starts with a short burst of noise that then guided by a tuned delay buffer and string tension filter, generates plucked string like sounds. No samples are used. Strng is 16 voice polyphonic and can be controlled with an in app 25 key chromatic keyboard or connect prefered midi controller through USB or Wifi. To further shape the sound two post effects are available, a ping-pong stereo delay and two channel resonant filter controlled by two LFOs.”
