scheps-73

Waves has released the Scheps 73 plug-in. Scheps 73 is a 3-band EQ modeled on the classic 1073 console’s EQ and mic preamp module and developed in association with world-renowned mixing engineer Andrew Scheps (Adele, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Black Sabbath, Lana Del Ray, Metallica, Jay-Z.)

The Scheps 73 EQ features interrelated bands that adhere to the 1073’s original specs and emulate its behavior: a fixed 12kHz high-frequency band, switchable low and midrange bands with cut and boost controls, and an 18dB/octave high-pass filter. Additionally, a little-known 10kHz midrange band discovered in the original 1073 schematics, but operable only on the rare 1078 channel strip has been modeled and incorporated into the plugin.

Using innovative procedures to model the acclaimed Marinair transformer, Waves has meticulously captured all the sonic characteristics of the 1073, including its harmonic distortion. These overtones were tweaked by Andrew Scheps himself.

Price: $149 – There is an introductory price of $99.

James Bernard introduces the Alias8 CV Controller Rack Extension, a virtual control surface for the Reason rack. https://shop.propellerheads.se/produc…

The Rack Extension features 16 knobs, 9 faders, 8 toggle buttons, and 8 momentary buttons, each with dedicated CV output sockets that allow you to directly modulate other devices populated in your Reason Rack. For complex rack systems that require dynamic real-time changes, the Alias8 CV controller provides a central performance hub controlling the synthesizers, samplers, and effects modules.

The Alias8 Rack Extension is modeled after the Livid Instruments Alias8 control surface, and is designed to integrate seamlessly when the controller is mapped to Reason. We have gone to great lengths to simplify the user experience in an intelligent manner that integrates control when used in conjunction with the Livid Instruments hardware.

I♥SYNTHS Interviews Richard Devine

January 7, 2014 · Posted in Uncategorized · Comments Off on I♥SYNTHS Interviews Richard Devine

Richard Devine is an electronic producer/sound designer based from Atlanta GA. His focus is on musical composition, sonic mnemonics, field recording, sound effects and specialized sound design for T.V/Film, web media and video games.

I♥SYNTHS: When did you get into electronic music? Was it a certain musician or piece of gear that got you interested?

Richard Devine: I started getting into electronic music back in high school. I was a DJ at local clubs and raves back in the early 90′s, and became fascinated with making music after hearing a Aphex Twin remix of “Mind stream” EP from Meat Beat Manifesto. At age 17 I started to build up my studio, which around that time was mostly early analog drum machines and synths. I would go to the local pawn shops here in Atlanta every weekend to see what I could find. It was a great time to buy this stuff as it was at a point when no one wanted early analog gear. My first proper synthesizer was the Arp-2600. This was a completely life changing moment for me. I was completely blown away by the semi modular format of the synth. You could also use it to process other sounds via filtering, ring modulation, and spring reverb. I still to this day have and still use the 2600 for my day-to-day projects. It taught me the basic fundamentals of building and shaping a sound from pure synthesis.
