Booglitchoo – prototype of a new instrument
A fairly final breadboard prototype of my new instrument: a 4-voice oscillator (NTE4093) with low pass filter (TL082) and a ‘robot voice modulator’ and bit destroyer (HT8950) all through a nice notch filter at the end (also a TL082).
Ditched the other f/x ideas and may simply add some kind of sequencer to change up the oscillator rhythms, but after going through tons of permutations this is the sound I like.

How the city of Eindhoven is turned into music
Who wouldn´t want one of these at home? A physical model of the city of Eindhoven is rolled onto a drum and attached to a piano. Buildings with each a unique form and dimension hit the piano keys. The tall buildings in the city centre have a heavy touch; the low-rise villas to the South create considerably gentler sounds.

So, how many keys do you need on your MIDI – thousands??
This is a velocity sensitive MIDI isomorphic keyboard. 192 total keys. The project came out of Louisville Soundbuilders, a fortnightly meeting of circuitbenders, synth engineers and experimental musicians. After seeing a couple of my failed variations of a single-bus isomorphic keyboard, Tim was intrigued enough to design one even better. He designed multiple PCBs that sandwich together with multiple switch types for velocity sensitive keypresses.
More development on the way! We’re working on molds/methods for making hexagonal keycaps. And I’m working on an Arduino-based controller as an alternative to the midibox controller Tim has working already.

Feel the power of voltage

A first try with a Strymon El Capistan delay which is voltage controlled by Yusynth Quadrature LFO. A CGS Master Divider module takes the clock input from a Mobius Future Retro and Q962 Sequential Switch to send various division of time to several sequencers and such. Dinsync clock controls an STG Time Suite and a CGS Harmonic Sequencer sends pitch voltages for all the melodic stuff.

Kinectic sound art piece
On Rainlith, the primitive naturally granular sound of a big rainstick gets explored in real-time by cyber-age sound manipulation tools.
It’s an interactive piece in witch the movement of the audience’s body activates an electric motor, making a reflex movement on the structure that embraces the instrument.
The sound of the rainstick is captured and processed in realtime, and sent 24 meters above, filling the empty space of a old industrial cereal container. The reverberated acoustic mix is then received back by the audience in the spot right below the opening of the container.

Creating melodies that evolve over time
Muze is an Arduino instrumentalist who creates melodies that evolve over time.
Muze has a palette of notes that it can in-turn interpret and compose into various rhythms and phrases that are strung together to form something musical. The user can then influence these strings of notes and rhythms to create entirely new compositions. Much like you would a tune a radio to get a new song, Muze can be tuned to provide new and different melodies.
In the interest of keeping Muze from becoming another knob laden techno-fest of an instrument, interaction has been limited to just one input.

Pendulum sound machine
Kyouei design is a Japanese design and manufacturing company of lighting and products, established in 2006.
Kouichi Okamoto, product designer / sound producer. Born in 1970 in Shizuoka City. Under the name “bekkou” Okamoto released the sound source work “hi light” from Dutch techno label X-trax in 1997 and has done music work for Dutch “re-run” and British labels since. He started product deign work in 2004 and in 2006 began Kyouei Design. He has been introducing to the world new designs from Shizuoka. Kyouei design also participates in exhibitions and interior product events around the world.

Behind The Wall
On the 20th of may, 10 sound installations were placed in Södermalm, Stockholm to promote JAYS headphones (jays.se/ ). For 72 hours, participants could listen to different binaural sound recordings and experience something truly out of the ordinary.
