Crashing through Mirrors – Moog Voyager, Adidas tracksuit and a wall in Berlin
This video is about the interaction of a man in a tracksuit with a Moog synthesizer at a wall in Berlin.
The song actually is a metaphoric story about a broken mirror, but there was no mirror available, not even a broken one. But we had a wall, which is even more metaphoric.

Background information:
This is the 2nd demonstration of my invention – The Judge. I’ve done some fine tuning of levels here and there (skipping descriptions) and things are working a lot better.
Also – I have the sequencer that is being used for the Level / comparison controls on each of the 16 steps, this time running my Liquid HiHat, to give a better audible idea, of which Steps are triggering and which are not.
I hope my explanation of the function in this video gets the idea across in an easier to understand way than my last version of it.

An interactive art piece consisting of a grid of 96 guitar effects pedals that are wired together, as well as a guitar and an amplifier. As people step on the different pedals they activate various effects, which multiply over one another, creating a dynamic sonic experience.

Sound manipulation – The Tetrafol
Built with the monome creators (Brian Crabtree and Kelli Cain) and LA research and experimentation center Machine Project, the Tetrafol is a custom, pyramidal sound device. The object warps Fol Chen’s music using gestural manipulation of playback, but can also use your own samples. And with open-source circuit and firmware, the project could be an opportunity to learn or to build your own creation.
Description:
The Tetrafol is a hand-held tangible electronic sound toy. Circuits enclosed by a wooden tetrahedron detect orientation and motion-gestures to modify the playback of a collection of Fol Chen’s micro-compositions, allowing the user to explore sound through physical manipulation.
The battery-powered device has its own internal speaker but can additionally be hooked up to a headphone or amplifier.
The circuit and firmware are based on open-source hardware and is itself published as open-source, allowing anyone interested to learn about its deepest inner-workings.

Bach: Sinfonia No. 15, BWV 801 (synthesized)
Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750): Sinfonia No. 15 from Inventions and Sinfonias, BWV 801
This piece comes from Bach’s collection of Inventions and Sinfonias (also known as Two- and Three-Part Inventions). Bach composed the set as an exercise for his keyboard students, stating that students “are shown a clear way not only to learn to play cleanly in two parts, but also, after further progress, to handle three obligate parts correctly and well; and along with this not only to obtain good inventions (ideas) but to develop the same well; above all, however, to achieve a cantabile style in playing and at the same time acquire a strong foretaste of composition.” This sinfonia is the last of the set, and is one of the more challenging. It requires great dexterity in the fingers to play its fast, flowing runs cleanly and articulately.
This synthesized rendition, along with the scrolling visualization, were generated by our MATLAB synthesizer. The timbre is a combination of three previously created sounds, as well as a new voice created specifically for this piece.
