Reactable in action at Sonar 2011
Reactable Mobile Android Launch, Reactable Showcase and Music Hackday
The Reactable uses a so called tangible interface, where the musician controls the system by manipulating tangible objects. The instrument is based on a translucent and luminous round table, and by putting these pucks on the Reactable surface, by turning them and connecting them to each other, performers can combine different elements like synthesizers, effects, sample loops or control elements in order to create a unique and flexible composition.

As soon as any puck is placed on the surface, it is illuminated and starts to interact with the other neighboring pucks, according to their positions and proximity. These interactions are visible on the table surface which acts as a screen, giving instant feedback about what is currently going on in the Reactable turning music into something visible and tangible.
Additionally, performers can also change the behavior of the objects by touching and interacting with the table surface, and because the Reactable technology is “multi-touch”, there is not limit to the number of fingers that can be used simultaneously. As a matter of fact, the Reactable was specially designed so that it could also be used by several performers at the same time, thus opening up a whole new universe of pedagogical, entertaining and creative possibilities with its collaborative and multi-user capabilities.
Analog Synth Control Review
We’re looking at the Expert Sleepers Silent Way software for controlling analog gear and the ES-1 and ES-3 audio interfaces . The Silent Way consists of 10 plugins in AU/Vst for Mac or VST for Windows. Its a download from the Expert Sleepers site and requires installation of a license manager – it was a pretty simple process for me on Mac 10.5.8 – once the license key was provided, the plug-ins showed up in Logic and Live no problem. The best place to start is with the SW Voice Controller- this is a fully featured Gate/CV with 3 envelopes and a velocity output and can use up to 6 outputs, though its pretty simple to use just CV and Gate to control the basic pitch and trigger of a synth.Full review text here: http://bit.ly/iqWSGY

mind.in.a.box – Whatever Mattered
The Austrian electro act mind.in.a.box have released a special live cut video version of the song “Whatever Mattered”.
This video is a special “live cut” version of the song “Whatever Mattered”. If you visit one of our live shows sometime, it will sound more like this live than the original version on R.E.T.R.O. We have tried to capture the mood of the song in this video, and played a bit with some unusual camera perspectives. Adam had to play with a cast on his right arm because he had had some troubles with a bouncer. Never discuss anything with a bouncer 😉 We hope you’ll enjoy this video!
Finally we decided to upload this video to the public. Before it was only available for all R.E.T.R.O album buyers.
The Poly-Ana Controller Flagship
This thing is the ‘monster synth’ of MIDI controllers. It offers 136 Knobs, 78 switches, 4 Doepfer MIDI Interfaces , a touchscreen, 4 Octave Keyboard & Mod & Pitchwheels. In this video you get a short overview of the dimension and functions of the Poly-Ana Controller for Admiral Qualitys VST/Au Instrument.
The Controller has two Front Panels to control all the parameters of the VST Instrument. The upper and the lower Front Panel. The upper Front Panel contains the 3 Oscillators Section, the 2 Filter Section, the 2 LFO and 2 AMP Section.
The lower Front Panel contains on the left side, the 3 Envelopes, in the middle a 8“ Touchscreen and on the right side the 2 Modulation Mixer and the 2 Sample and Holds. Also the Controller will have a 4 Octave Keyboard with Pitch and ModWheel. The Touchscreen which shows the VST Instrument is primarily use for switching, load and save the presets. The controller will has about 211 Parameters. So i need 4 Midi Interfaces to control this Plugin.

Sample pack from a Reaktor Ensemble
Multiples has released Exploration: Reaktor, a free collection of samples taken from a Reaktor ensemble by T2D.
For those of you who follow our twitter feed you will no doubt have heard that T2D has been working very hard making a brand new synth with Native Instruments Reaktor technology.
It is currently in the version 1 stage of development and is a 3 oscillator synth routed through a Modulation Matrix were any of 3 seperate filters can be chosen for each of the oscillators to go through.
However, as this is being developed for T2D’s current record and soundscapes he is reluctant to allow the free download of the synth. He has allowed us to sample three of the current sounds he has made.
So, we have sampled them at every key from c1-c4 and then taken all three sounds and rinsed them through Guitar Rig in order to bulk out the pack.
The sample pack is available to download at no cost from Multiples.
