Details on the new album from Empire State Human
Empire State Human have signed with Werkstatt Recordings for the release of their next album “The Dark”, out in September 2014. Werkstatt Recordings, based in Rhodes/Greece, was founded in 2009 and is an independent net-label focusing on electronic synth music. Artists include such bands as Protector 101, Arc Neon, Jowie Schulner, Beatbox Machinery, Kubinski & Droid Sector Decay.
“The Dark” is Empire State Human’s third album since July 2013, and features all new songs, including a track with Martin Bowes, of UK band Attrition called “The Digital World”, on spoken vocals. Two tracks “Drifting” and “Funhouse” have original lyrics with by Tracey Biscop.
The album will be released on Bandcamp and Juno by Werkstatt Recordings, which will also include a limited CD-r release run. Empire State Human will handle the digital release. Artwork is by Fontpusher in London while the album was mastered by Pete Maher (Pet Shop Boys, Garbage, Depeche Mode, The Rolling Stones, Nine Inch Nails).

Evidence Of Time Travel – new album from John Foxx
After posting a teaser video and some basic information last month, John Foxx has unveiled further details about his new album, Evidence Of Time Travel. It’s a fully-fledged audiovisual work, a “unique sonic & visual investigation into the terrors and pleasures of temporal displacement” to be precise, and sees Foxx collaborating musically with Steve D’Agostino, with graphics created by KARBORN. The album will be released on vinyl, CD and download on October 6 via Foxx’s Metamatic label, while a performance of the piece as a live film will take place at the BFI in London on November 21.
The project has its own website, which hosts KARBORN’s monthly graphic volume instalments, with four of them up there already. Elsewhere on the site, notes add that the work is, “A sinister sonic architecture of drum-machine-music and analogue synthesisers. Opens with ‘The Forbidden Experiment’, as surveillance TV glitches and the ghostly, ripped-up multi-temporal universe of ‘Evidence Of Time Travel’ infiltrates the labyrinth of dark electronica. Span forty years in a moment . . . Serato Flip – new Expansion Pack for Serato DJ
Serato has introduced Serato Flip, a new Expansion Pack for Serato DJ that allows you to create custom edits, extend and re-imagine your music.
Available this September with Serato DJ 1.7 – Flip allows you to record your cue point and censor actions which can be saved and looped, ready to re-trigger and start an instant. Use Serato Flip to create and save up to 6 Flips per track, ready for playback in the studio or the club.
The original idea of being able to record and playback cue point information in a simple way was first pitched to us by NZ producer P Money, who was already using Serato to put beats together by manually triggering cue points.
Not only a great beat sketch pad, Serato Flip can also be used as a powerful DJ tool. The simple, yet effective control set designed with the DJ in mind allows you to use it in your set in a number of ways:
- Make clean edits of your tracks by recording censor actions.
- Extend intros, breakdowns or outros for better mixing.
- Create transition sections in your songs for changing tempo or beat structure.
- Advanced tone-play and performance.
- Auto-skipping verses or choruses in songs.
- Making beats.
Serato Flip features
- Record Cue Point & Censor Automation — Click record once to arm recording. Once you hit the first cue or censor, recording begins. Hit record again to set the end point of your Flip.
- Prepare & Edit Tracks In Offline Mode — Use Serato Flip without your hardware connected.
- Flip Saving — Save 6 different Flips per track. Serato Flip information is saved to your tracks metadata and doesn’t edit the audio of the track. You can delete cue points and your Flip will still be remembered.

- Name your Flips — Just like Serato DJs nameable Cue Points you can also name your Flips. The name of your Flip will appear in the deck info area when the track is loaded.
Serato Flip will be available as a paid Expansion Pack in Serato DJ 1.7, coming this September. It will be available for purchase in-app and on the Serato Online Store for $29 USD.
