Vactrola
Circuit bent record player. Replaced the needle catridge with an LDR controlled 555 oscillator and plays records retrofitted with LEDs to work as a vactrol-like sequencer.
TECH|DISOBEY|LAB is an experimental art project that explores sounds and visuals through DIY electronics, circuit bending, and self-made instruments; utilizing electronic salvage and consumer debris as a platform for audio-video expedition.

Circuit Bent Casio
Modified Casio PT-22 with added LFO circuit by resonance circuits.
VISUALIST, a ‘make it yourself’ instrument for the VJ/artist
Searching the internet you can find many audio effect circuits but analog video effect circuits are rare. Why? Is there no interest?
The aim of this project is to make a video instrument for VJ’s and other artists and open enough to experiment further. The parts are cheap and easy to find. Some knowledge of electronics is a pre. Special for the d.i.y. artist I made a PDF with building instructions:

Computer At Sea
Seemingly forever in the making, Computer At Sea’s EP Palace of the Lightbulbs is finally available in digital format on bandcamp.
With the exception of one bass line, every sound on the recording is from a circuit bent instrument, hand made synth, chiptune hardware, or other found electronics. The album will be released in the physical world on white vinyl some time in late April with a small east coast tour to follow in the spring/early summer.

RC CIRCUIT BENT MYSTIC GLITCH RANDOM DRONE SYNTH GENERATOR
Awesome sounds from a drone synth generator:
AKA PANDORA’S BOX – A RADICALLY MODIFIED AND RECASED YAMAHA PSS KEYBOARD FROM THE 1980’S.
CPR doll synthesizer by Diabolical Devices
Taking circuit bending to the next level I guess
“Get Bent” – A Cooking Show About Circuit Bending
After taking an extended vacation from making the cooking show to indulge a budding curiosity in the worlds of circuit bending and microelectronics, I finally found a way to merge the knowledge I’d acquired and the “lost footage” I’ve been sitting on since missing the deadline for this season of Bobby Flay’s “Grill It. While lacking the superfluous bells and whistles of previous episodes, I get to feature a popular recipe from my collection with my honey peanut chipotle BBQ sauce, flat leaf mustard greens get their propers, and I flex a recipe that was built purely by inspiration. There’s no actual measuring to do, and for the record, I had purposefully chosen to cook something for the BF audition that was something I had NEVER HAD BEFORE, using only loves and memories to create something as original as possible. Even as I was preparing and filming it, I had no idea if it would even turn out to be edible, much less completely kick-ass and like eating a smokey gnocchi pancake.. (“SMOKEY GNOCCHI!” I own that now.) So in the spirit of taking things apart and putting them back together, I present my potential return to the world of the cooking show in “Jrm Says.. ‘Get Bent..” Enjoy, or don’t. Either way, thanks for watching.
Mood Cube Quad Nand Synth
The 4093 is 4 cascaded oscillators. It has a voltage starve dial with an LDR in parrallel so the LEDs of the mood cube will modulate the oscillations. I didn’t expect when I first made the circuit that the mood cube LED circuit would affect the 4093, but it does. I added a voltage starve to the LEDs and a cycle rate dial.
Father of Circuit Bending
Here’s what he has to say about it:
Reed Ghazala also known as the father of Circuit Bending has many artistic outlets. Recent accessibility of quality video editing and HD camera technology allowed Reed to create new experimental movies that he can now easily share with the rest of us. To fully experience these you may want to view the videos in full 1080p HD glory on Reed’s YouTube page or through his Flickr Poster Portal. Reed also wants to encourage people to print the posters and show the films at film nights, festivals, parties, bending workshops, etc.
How to make a toy keyboard into a sequenced input device
Took a very basic cheap toy keyboard and turned it into a rad sequenced control voltage input device. Check it out and learn how to do it yourself!
