A couple of nice videos showing of modular stuff like beat, sequencing and bass handling

“The case is a 6U with wogglebug, maths, qmmg, envelator, a140 adsr, A147 vclfo, A160/161 seq, zorlon cannon, a166 logic module, a138c bipolar mixer, a172 max/min, a151 seq switch, hertz donut direct record with a little reverb and some delay”

TinySizer – semi modular analog synthesizer

Somehow this fabulous new semi-modular was release without being detected by our “cool-synth-alert-scanning” system. So here it is: The Tiny Sizer by the German company Anyware, same guys who did the SEMTex.

The designer Thomas Welsch sais: “One Of The Smallest Patchable Mini Analog Modular Synthesizer In The World!”
It appears to be a very competent modular with 2 oscillators including 3 sub oscillators, 3 LFOs, 2 envelopes, 4 VCAs, 1 multimode filter, delay, reverb, Ring Modulator, Noise, Envelope Follower, MIDI and mixer!

New inspiring book on modulation

Roland Kuit is a composer, artist, sound designer, and teacher who lives in The Hague in the Netherlands. He has released a new e-book on modular synthesis called SouldLab.

Click the image below to see a larger view or click here to load a printable PDF version.
SoundLab-TOC

The book is about modular synthesis in general and Roland uses he Clavia G2 hardware editor/Demo version to illustrate concepts. The screenshot below is from the end of chapter one where he illustrates patching old subtractive modular systems like the ARP 2600.

Modular MIDI sequencer for the Lemur

Clip featuring a modular synthesizer jam with Sequencomat V3 – an 8 track 16 step MIDI sequencer in Max/MSP, with a touch control surface for the Jazzmutant Lemur. Sequencomat is based on the idea of traditional hardware step sequencers, but with an touchscreen control surface, and below that he tests out Sequencomat v3, running its own clock and sequencing a Nord Modular G1 on the first 4 channels and the G2 on the 4 following.

A simple test with the sequencomat v3 running its own clock and sequencing a nord modular G1 on the first 4 channels and the G2 on the 4 following. check http://music-interface.com/ for more info on sequencomat v3

Modulation on Reaktor

Found this video clip on Reaktor modulation using the RS 95 VCO

Enjoy

RS 95 is an enhanced precision voltage controlled oscillator High frequency stability & excellent musical tracking over a ten octave range. Accurate waveforms of sinewave, sawtooth, triangle, square & pulse are available as separate outputs, the waveshapes can be independently voltage controlled. a wide range mode allows the oscillator to operate in both supersonic and subsonic frequency ranges as well as in the audio frequency range. Hard sync input for classic complex lead sounds.  A high quality ten turn multiturn frequency dial allowing precise tuning of frequencies & incorporating a lock to ensure the dial cannot be turned accidentally. A perfect partner for the rs500e and rs510e modules to give the classic EMS synthi look and feel to any system.

“This is a UNIQUE modular synthesizer prototype in the world created by Ken Macbeth, his sound & features are impressive with 7 VCO + 6 suboscillators, 13 oscillators in total!!! In my experience I can say that this modular project is much more complex and powerful than the new M5n or M3X… this modular has a FAT sound, another planet!” – thanks to scienceforce who also has a few clips of the ultra rare Starkey Hearing Science modular.
