KORG MS-20 mini vs MS-20
It is a comparison of the sound of the MS-20 mini and MS-20.
Can you find the difference in sound??
All you can eat Korg MS-20 Mini – 12 part video
Here is the introduction to a series of videos which demonstrate the sound and functionality of the new Korg MS-20 Mini. All non-drum sounds in the theme were created by the MS-20 Mini. Doty’s series covers the MS-20 Mini’s oscillators, filters, envelope generators, amplifiers, sample & hold, external signal processor, patch examples and more.
Korg MS20 Creator Interview
Sonic had the chance to speak to Mr Fumio Mieda – one of the creators of the MS20 and the MS20 Mini.
And here is a second one uploaded by KORG themselves:
Original Korg MS-20 developers Mr. Fumio Mieda and Mr. Hiroaki Nishijima recently sat down to reminisce about developing the legendary analog MS-20 and resureccting that classic synth 35 years later in the form of the new MS-20 Mini.

Musikmesse 2013 – Waldorf Pulse 2
Cutting edge and powerful lows in one compact box (available spring 2013)
Sometimes they do come back, and this time, it’s with even more brute-strength power onboard. You are looking at a completely analog synthesizer that accurately delivers what synthesizer enthusiasts around the world truly crave. Pulse 2 is the reincarnation of it’s legendary ancestor, the Waldorf Pulse, that dominated the electronic music of the 90s.
Three analog oscillators in combination with a true analog cascading filter is what Pulse and Pulse 2 have in common. But we didn’t stop there. The filter circuits now also offer Highpass and Bandpass modes. We added analog Filter FM and Ring Modulation along with paraphonic modes that allow up to eight voice chords.
Like the Blofeld Synthesizer, the Pulse 2 is housed in a sturdy metal desktop case. Besides its large LCD display, 8 stainless steel knobs are available to surf through its clearly arrayed parameter matrix, set master volume and edit display accessible parameters.
Background video description in German:
Der Waldorf Pulse ist Kult. Kaum ein anderer Synthesizer hat so einen fetten Bass.
Waldorf verspricht das auch der Nachfolger mithalten kann. Natürlich hat Waldorf dem Synthesizer auch ein paar neue Features spendiert.
Exploring the sounds of the new MFB Dominion 1 and Tanzbär – live from MusikMesse
More goodies showcased at MusikMesse 2013, this time live from the MFB booth
Audio demos of their new products the Dominion synth and the Tanzbär drum machine
The Dominion 1 features three oscillators, three LFOs and three envelopes. It has a 3-octave keyboard and comes with its own arpeggiator/sequencer. Other features include an extended FM mode, double oscillator sync, an analogue and digital ring modulator and a discrete SED filter module with 12 modes.
The keyboard supports aftertouch and you also get two ribbon controllers, a velocity matrix and a patchbay.
The Tanzbär, meanwhile, is a 16-sound drum machine that sports a “super-tight” 16-step sequencer with accent and pitchbend. You can store 144 patterns and there’s a Fill and Chain function. There are two CV/Gate channels, roll/flam recording and various swing options.

MESSE13: Novation Bass Station II Preview
MESSE13: Novation Bass Station II Preview – We get an engineering preview
Novation introduces Bass Station II
So, Novation follows the main trend of the past two year – the revival of analog synths, just like the MiniBrute, MS20 mini, Sub Phatty etc
Bass Station II is an analogue mono-synth based on the classic original Bass Station but re-worked for the 21st century. It has two filters, two oscillators plus a third sub-oscillator, patch save and a fully analogue effects section. Add a step sequencer, arpeggiator, full sized keys and a powerful modulation section and you have the makings of a synth that is built for bass, but capable of so much more.
Bass Station II marks Novation’s 21st birthday – find out more about Novation’s early synths and how the technology evolved over 20 years
Analogue synth: brand new version of the classic Bass Station
Bass Station II has a pure analogue audio signal path, reviving the spirit of the original Bass Station with an all-new design optimised for bass.
Two distinct analogue filters
A brand new “Acid” filter joins the “Classic” original Bass Station filter -(“Classic” switches between low, hi and band pass with 12 and 24dB slopes).
Load and save patches
Bass Station II ships with 64 factory patches and a further 64 user slots. Patch dump enables you to archive and swap sounds.
Pattern-based Step Sequencer and Arpeggiator
Bass Station II has an arpeggiator with a programmable step sequencer that enables you to store and call up patterns and quickly sketch-out ideas.
Dedicated Tweakable Controls
Analogue synth layout includes dedicated controls for all major parameters enabling instant hands-on control of the sound engine.
Two Oscillators plus an additional Sub Oscillator
Bass Station II has two sync-able, tune-able oscillators with four selectable waveforms, plus a third sub-oscillator for generating enormous bass sounds.
Analogue effects section
Bass Station II includes fully analogue distortion and filter-modulation effects and a separate filter overdrive to add an aggressive, crunchy sound-quality.
Analogue effects section Flexible modulation featuring 2 Envelopes and 2 LFOs
LFO waveforms include triangle, sawtooth, square and sample & hold. Two ADSR envelopes are available for filter, pitch and pulse width modulation.
MIDI I/O and USB connectivity
Bass Station II can be connected to your music software as well as your MIDI compatible hardware.
Players ‘synth-action’ keyboard with aftertouch
The keyboard mechanism is a two-octave (25 note) velocity sensitive synth-action keyboard with full-size keys and assignable aftertouch
