Nostalgia – Indochine, the first ever synthpop record I've bought

April 26, 2008 · Posted in Electronic Music · Comments Off on Nostalgia – Indochine, the first ever synthpop record I've bought

Started playing some old vinyls of mine and it caught me that this record was the first ever synthpop album I’ve ever bought – the start of an era :-)

I am not claiming it to be the best ever conceived but clearly something still worth listening to. Of course I had already explored some Depeche and Kraftwerk stuff on the radio, but this record was really something. I remember that you could buy the vinyl in different colors and that this extended single had a couple of nice bonus tracks. I never continued to listen to Indochine after that but I at least wanted to share with you a moment of truth – that kicked off my career in the electro space.

Cheers and have a great weekend

April 21, 2008 · Posted in Electronic Music · Comments Off on Client remix collection out now

Synthpop trio Client’s new remix album, simply called Untitled Remix, is available now from Metropolis Records in the USA and Out of Line Music in Europe. Untitled Remix features techno mixes of the group’s most popular songs by such acts as Eyerer and Namoto, Rich Samuels and Boosta, plus a collaboration with Nitzer Ebb vocalist Douglas McCarthy and a cover of Die Krupps’ “Der Amboss,” featuring guest appearances by members of Die Krupps. Client to Debaser Feb 22nd…

…fully equipped with their new fat single “Its not over” – should be a promising event I believe, Check out their new single below:

Client’s uniform image is always inspiring :-) and a departure from the norm, maybe a bit too obvious for the sensibilites of some who think they’re exploiting their style. Take this picture for example, the trio are obviously pushing it, but is it done in an ironic way? or is it mere titilation?

Anyhow, S’Express mainman Mark Moore and top remixer ‘Kinky’ Roland Faber have turned in a very disco-danceable housey remix that ticks all the boxes.

Depeche Mode – back in the studio

The band met earlier this month, and agreed to hit the studio in March.

Martin’s been writing songs, and has already taken his new compositions into pre-production (ie. not just demos), working with Sie Medway-Smith in Martin’s home studio in Santa Barbara.

Dave has also been writing, although details of his progress are scarce.

EMI in Spain let slip that Mute are hoping to have the album ready at the end of this fiscal year, in time for Christmas. A tentative date of “late November” was circulated to retailers and media in Spain, via the IFPI owned operation Promusicae. Sources close to the band tells us to expect a tour to be announced some time in the early fall of 2008, with tickets going on sale in September or October. A tour would probably not start till early 2009, however.

10.000 mark reached last night

January 18, 2008 · Posted in Electronic Music · Comments Off on 10.000 mark reached last night

Last night this blog reached, at least in my mind, an amazing 10.000 level – meaning that this blog, since its start last spring, now has had more than 10.000 unique visitors.

Thanks for your great support and let us continue to inspire the electro community with good stuff during this year.

Shout!!

Synthmusic in commercials?

January 9, 2008 · Posted in Electronic Music · Comments Off on Synthmusic in commercials?

Synth music has a tendency to stick in the sub-cultures of the music scene, but once i a while you find some indications that things might ne changing, although I am still scepticle that it will ever be so. Remember the old synth pioneers Devo, well these guys arguably has done some work to put synth music on the map and recently saw this add where IT-giants Dell actually uses Devo for one of their commercials – although you have to watch the video for some time before you actually understands what the video is all about, LOL

DEVO wrote this song called “Watch Us Work It” and recorded it in Los Angeles, CA, and produced by Sweden’s famous Teddy Bears. DELL heard it because Paul Malmstrom and Linus Karlsson at the Mother agency in NYC played it for them as a possibility for a song for their TV campaign featuring a newly developed, high-end laptop computer. DELL liked it, and now you can of course enjoy it here too. I do not claim to give you some brand, hot news directly out of the press, the video is about 6 months old, but still…

Enjoy!

Yazoo will re-unite next year

December 21, 2007 · Posted in Electronic Music · Comments Off on Yazoo will re-unite next year

At least rumours has it that Vince Clarc and Alison Moyet will go on tour next year. And perhaps I will have to chew my last entry about not watching performances by old 80’s bands. Yazoo would definately be worth seeing live – much rather them than the utterly boring Erasure band.

Most likely their will also be a re-issue of their old stuff – why anyone would want to buy them, since readers of this blog most likely have everything by Yazoo already, maybe one can hope for some unreleased tracks…
