A new mod based on the original Reaktor Spacedrone intrument
This is a video preview of a new free project for Native Instruments Reaktor + Jazzmutant Lemur users – Spacedrone mod.
The mod is designed to create all sorts of sci-fi sounds, atmospheres, soundscapes, drones and multimedia sounds, using the Lemur as a controller to create, mutate and manipulate sounds.
Based on the original Reaktor Spacedrone intrument with some new features to play with lemur.
– All the sounds of video generated with this new version of Spacedrone, created/performed from the lemur patch.

Five new instruments in NI Komplete7
The modal synthesizer Reaktor Prism, the studio reverb Reflektor, the organ emulation Vintage Organs, the effect suite Traktor’s 12 and the amp emulation Rammfire are based on the technology of Kontakt, Reaktor and Guitar Rig, and can be used both within the full versions and the free player versions of these instruments.
Reflektor ($119) is a high-performance reverb processor for use within Guitar Rig 4 and the new Guitar Rig 4 Player. Based on Native Instruments’ patent-pending Zero Latency Convolution, it combines the quality of impulse response technology with the efficiency and flexibility of algorithmic reverbs to generate both extremely realistic room ambiences and creative, highly original reverberation effects.
The new Vintage Organs ($119) instrument provides the electromagnetic organ sound of the ’60s and ’70s. Based on meticulous sampling with the advanced Kontakt engine, it re-creates three tonewheel organs and two distinctive transistor-based models complete with their authentic sound-shaping and effect facilities.
The performance effects suite Traktor’s 12 ($79) is derived from Native Instruments’ DJ software, and makes the effects arsenal of Traktor Pro available for use as a plug-in in any DAW or music sequencer. All 12 effects, including unique algorithms like the “Mulholland Drive,” “Reverse Grain” and “Beat Masher” are optimized for intuitive and expressive real-time sound manipulation.
The new Rammfire ($59) amp emulation was developed with one of Rammstein’s guitarists, Richard Z. Kruspe, and models the original recording chain that is behind the band’s guitar sound. It can be used both as an expansion to the amplifier arsenal in Guitar Rig 4 and as an individual product with the free Guitar Rig 4 Player.
The five new instruments and effects are now available for individual download purchase in the NI Online Shop, and are also included in the new KOMPLETE 7 bundle.
Finally Reaktor 5.5 is released
Native Instruments has released Reaktor 5.5 – a free update that adds a number of improvements and additions.
New in Reaktor 5.5:
- Fully reworked, streamlined user interface: A complete overhaul of REAKTOR’s interface delivers a new level in usability and improved workflow. The changes make REAKTOR 5.5’s iconic creative potential easier to tap than ever before.
- Two new synthesis modules:
- Additive Synthesis – The additive synthesis technology in REAKTOR 5.5 allows instrument builders to create sound in a new way. This elaborate module allows instrument designers to realize additive synthesis beyond the CPU limitations of previous REAKTOR versions, as it has been radically optimized to handle large number of partials in a more efficient way. For ensemble users, instruments can now be created that allow accesses to sound parameters that were not possible before. The included Lazerbass instrument is a ready-made example of this technology in action.
- Modal Synthesis – The Modal Module is a synthesis method made up of an exciter signal and a resonator, and is great for synthesizing percussive sounds ranging from mallets to vibraphones, as well as sustained sounds like woodwinds. The physical modeling algorithms used in modal synthesis simulate the behavior of real instruments, allowing for highly expressive and playable results. The first synth to utilize this technology is REAKTOR PRISM*, created by Native Instruments founder and father of REAKTOR, Stephan Schmitt.
- New Ensemble Content – REAKTOR 5.5 comes armed with fresh sounds and ensembles. Alongside the now-included REAKTOR Electronic Instruments 1 and 2, comes a new synth from the creators of MASSIVE – Lazerbass.

Komplete 7 really looks impressive
Native Instruments has introduced Komplete 7, an expanded version of its complete software bundle.
Komplete 7 now combines 24 instruments and effects – including five entirely new products – with over 10,000 sounds and 90 GByte of samples, resulting in a comprehensive suite with unparalleled versatility for music production and performance.
Komplete 7 will be available in September 2010 for a suggested retail price of $559 USD / 499 EUR. An update for owners of Komplete 2/3/4/5/6 will be available for $229 USD / 199 EUR.

Native Instruments Komplete 7
KOMPLETE 7 includes the latest versions of Native Instruments’ acclaimed full-featured instruments and effects, ranging from ABSYNTH 5, BATTERY 3.1, FM8, GUITAR RIG 4.1, KONTAKT 4.1 and MASSIVE to the upcoming REAKTOR 5.5. Serious updates with Komplete 7 and Reaktor
Komplete 7, announced today, is the latest edition of Native Instruments’ bundle of virtual studio software. As always, that means a refresh of what’s in the box to recent upgrades of synths like Absynth, FM8, and Massive, plus drum instrument Battery, guitar effects and amp simulation Guitar Rig, and the modular creation powerhouse Reaktor.
In addition, though, today’s Komplete 7 announcement brought some new tools to the table, as seen in the image gallery above. They include a number of surprise effects announcements, and one less-surprising – but intriguing – synth for the new release of Reaktor from NI’s sonic scientist-in-chief.
- Reaktor Prism is a new “modal synth” created by NI founder and Reaktor creator Stephan Schmitt. Stephan walked me through Prism when I visited him in Berlin earlier this summer, and I have to say, it’s one of the software releases I’m most excited about – Stephan’s ideas about synthesis are always refreshing and inspiring. It makes a lot of use of the new objects in 5.5. It’s hard to describe, so stay tuned for more on it soon.
- Reflektor is a “zero-latency” convolution engine for simulating reverbs and other effects.
- Traktor’s 12 brings some of the effects from Traktor into producer’s hands. That’s good news, because some of Traktor’s far-out and granular-based timbres seem a natural for non-DJs.
- Rammfire is a new amp emulation developed with Richard Z. Kruspe of Rammstein.
While some standalone instruments and effects have been casualties of a trimmed Komplete suite — Spektral Delay, Vokoder, B3, and Akoustic Piano come to mind — those are replaced in this version by the addition of extensive soundware for the remaining flagship instruments. Scarbee Vintage Keys and MM-Bass, Abbey Road 60s Drums, and the Classic Piano Collection more than make up for the omission of dedicated piano and organ instruments, folding these instead into the consistent interface of the Kontakt and Battery samplers. You also get some more unusual instrumental creations: Reaktor Spark (also by Schmitt), Tim Exile’s insanely-brilliant performance effect The Finger, and the sonically-adventurous Acoustic Refractions. But the new Komplete also represents some shifts in strategy, ones that mean cheaper access to sounds for those who don’t want all of the editing capabilities. That shift goes beyond even previous player and Kore soundware from NI.
Player for Guitar Rig, Reaktor
In addition to the expanded sonic palette, Komplete reflects a different way of delivering instruments. Guitar Rig Player allows effects to be delivered standalone in a “universal” effects platform. Reflektor and Rammfire are delivered on the Guitar Rig Player platform, a bit like the soundware we’ve seen for Kontakt. Reaktor Player means that Reaktor patches can finally be distributed without having to buy the full release of Reaktor. You’ll get the full, graphical user interface for some brilliant Reaktor patches, without having to buy the whole Reaktor package if you don’t want to edit them. Depending on how much NI exploits this idea, that could make Reaktor a more compelling tool for artists to create new instruments and effects for the platform, at least for those who work with NI directly.
Updated drum sequencer for Native Instruments Reaktor
Peter Dines has updated ParamDrum, a drum sequencer for Native Instruments Reaktor.
The impossible has happened: a ParamDrum update.
It’s got a brilliant skin courtesy of Jonathan Style, a new sound set based on samples from a very popular hardware synth (can you name it?), and at the moment only four new snaps. I could delay release and make more presets, but I want to get this out as soon as possible considering what a wait it’s been since the last update.
ParamDrum for Reaktor is available to purchase for $12.50 USD. The update is free for existing users. Note: this new skinned version only works in Reaktor 5.5 beta.

Polymoog VST
If the last post made you want to play a Polymoog but you don’t have one lying around there’s only one software option available AFAIK: the Reaktor ensemble Polymojo.
This imitation is mainly a Polymoog Synthesizer BUT the blue buttons are from the cut down/preset version Polymoog Keyboard. It does not include the MODE-filters. Hence there is no fader for that in the Master/mix section.
The Polymoog is a bit difficult to understand as there are 3 different filter sections and also a signal direct from the oscillator without filter. One of the limitations of the Polymoog was the lack of polyphonic dynamic filters. The MODE filter is polyphonic but it’s not possible to control it by an envelope. There’s a 4 pole LP filter – but it’s monophonic. And there bank of 3 resonant filters but these are also monophonic. The keyboard can be split in two different ways to create more sounds variation over the range of the keyboard but it’s also makes it a bit difficult to program. Each voice has 2 oscillator BUT they only have one waveform each – saw and pulse respectively. Not very flexible and quite limiting when sculpting sound.
One quite unique feature of it’s time however contributed to the lush sound called Vox Humana which could be said to be Gary Numan’s signature sound. The 2 oscillators per voice have each a separate LFO for frequency modulation which opens for wide and lush sounds. Also the Pulse Width has it’s own LFO.
