Zynic will release its debut album “Fire Walk With Me” – in the spirit of classic synthpop acts
Electropop act Zynic will release its debut album “Fire Walk With Me” at the end of the month. On the 29th to be precise.
The album will be released as a limited edition of 500 copies through German label Conzoom Records. This edition will feature 4 exclusive bonustracks, remixed by famous artists like Assemblage 23, Iris, People Theatre and Parralox.
Zynic wants to carry the spirit of the 80′s into tomorrow’s sound. Classic acts like Yazoo, Japan, Depeche Mode, Kraftwerk and OMD were always a big influence on Zynics way of creating his own tunes. And so there is one special highlight on the cd edition of “Fire Walk With Me”. It is a cover version of the classic Depeche Mode hit “Any Second Now”. According to the label, Zynic has covered the song very emotional and with a cool electronic bassline – so it might be one of the best Depeche Mode cover versions that were ever done so far.

Free Ableton live rack – reverse piano, by AfroDjMac
Here is a new Ableton Live Instrument Rack, a reversed piano. I sampled every key from my old 1913 Kranich and Bach upright piano, then reversed the samples and created an instrument rack, with effects, in Ableton Live. The result is when you play a key, it plays the corresponding note from the piano backwards. It is similar to the effect on such classic albums as Revolver and The White Album, when the Beatles reversed their electric guitars and voices. Now you can play those trippy sounds on a keyboard! It’s lots of fun and can be manipulated to get all kinds of interesting tones.

According to The Sun, ex-Beatle Paul McCartney has been shopping a Paul McCartney tribute around and is asking famous musicians to cover one of his songs. He already had arranged for The Clash to collaborate with his son James for one of the songs and now also hooked him up with The Cure. McCartney is said to have a good relationship with the band’s frontman, Robert Smith. So The Sun says.
Other artists on this Paul McCartney tribute include Billy Joel, BB King, Garth Brooks, Paul Rodgers and even KISS. Rumour has it that The Police declined.
