Official video for ‘Steve McQueen’ by M83, taken from the album ‘Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming’. The video is the winner from the competition run in partnership with Genero TV. The now released video is a companion piece to the music video created for the previous single “Midnight City”. The video continues the story of a group of children with various psychic abilites as they are pursued by their shadowy handlers in an attempt to recover them. As with the previous music video, the artists have cited Akira as a major source for their inspiration.

In this episode of Dubspot’s Wireless interview series, influential composer and electronic music pioneer Morton Subotnick invites composer, producer, and educator Raz Mesinai to his studio for an interview. Their discussion ranges from the innovations and rapid acceleration of music technology over the last sixty years to developing an iOS app that presents a new way for kids to create music.
Subotnick has worked extensively with interactive electronics and multi-media, co-founding the San Francisco Tape Music Center with Ramon Sender, and often collaborating with his wife Joan La Barbara. Morton Subotnick is one of the pioneers in the development of electronic music and multi-media performance and an innovator in works involving instruments and other media, including interactive computer music systems. Most of his music calls for a computer part, or live electronic processing; his oeuvre utilizes many of the important technological breakthroughs in the history of the genre.

Ikeda creates sounds and visuals that are beyond our perception, making excellent use of computer and state-of-art technology. The one day only audiovisual concert takes place in the vast space of Kyoto Art Theater Shunjuza! Based in Paris, Ikeda is one of the world’s leading electronic composers and visual artists and his new work is always eagerly anticipated. His large solo exhibition “+/-[the infinite between 0 and 1]” at Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo and spectra[nagoya], which was done as a massive installation at Nagoya Castle with a high voltage search light that reached the stratosphere (Aichi Triennale 2011), have both left, sonically as well as visually, a great impact on audiences. datamatics [ver.2.0], in which Ikeda uses all sorts of data such as microscopic DNA and molecules all the way to the macroscopic cosmos in an attempt to grasp the world by exploring the limit of human perception, is the final piece of a series that began in 2006. Creating infinite sequences at high speed, he composes the almost violent performance with great precision. Ikeda’s ultra minimalistic world offers a sublime audio-visual experience. In 2013, his new work, superposition, will come to Kyoto for its Japanese premiere.

Metamatic Records announce the release of “Analogue Circuit: Live At The Roundhouse” by John Foxx And The Maths. The 3 disc set is out now and features the first ever live John Foxx DVD, plus a double album of the show, all in new artwork by designer Jonathan Barnbrook.
“Analogue Circuit” was filmed in June 2010 with multiple cameras at London’s The Roundhouseone.It includes Robin Simon on guitar playing early Ultravox material; VJ cut-ups and Barnbrook graphics; a film by I Robot director Alex Proyas, an opening Metamatic section; songs from “Interplay”; all of this in a one-off show.
Extras include a photo gallery, Jonathan Barnbrook’s films for “Interplay” and an interview with Future Music just before the band went on stage.
