Buchla 200e Randomness Experiment
A simple “controlled randomness” experiment wherein three oscillators randomly change pitch with each new trigger via the Source of Uncertainty. The pulsing is achieved from the ring modulator and, of course, the filter sweep is touch controlled.

System Exit (sounds from the Large Hadron Collider)
This video looks and sounds better at 1080p.
The music was created using sounds produced by Cern’s Large Hadron Collider, as well as analogue synthesis and signal processing. I created it for the Synthgear.com remix competition and then decided to do this clip to make it more fun.

I used Chris Laurel’s awesome open-source Celestia program to model and render the space journey, planets, etc. The fictional earth-like planet arrived at at the end is called Gradius and was created by Gradius_Fanatic.

The audio I put on youtube is mastered in a less-than-ideal way (and youtube’s audio isn’t much good). This track and others will be *professionally mastered* in the near future and will be released on the net.
Monomatic – Modular Music Box, Electromagnetic Music Sequencer 2010
Strange sounds but nice, here´s what the author has to say about it:
The Modular Music Box consists of several interconnected, plug-and-play devices that collectively reproduce the functionality of the familiar 19th century clockwork musical instrument.
At the heart of the piece is a custom-made electro-magnetic rotary sequencer. Melodies are stored on a series of interchangeable, acrylic, 10″ disks embedded with small magnets arranged in a regular circular grid. In the same way vinyl records are located on a turntable these disks are centered on a spindle and rotate over a ‘play head’ made up of a line of magnetic field sensors — effectively replicating but superseding the set of pins on the revolving cylinder that pluck the tuned teeth of a steel comb in the traditional device. Additional units are ‘daisy-chained’ to each other via single cables and include a self contained and controllable sound source (to hear and effect the musical output) and an animated representation of a dancing ballerina automaton — realised as a modern-day interpretation of the praxinoscope (the successor to the zoetrope — the popular visual parlour toy of its era — but which improved on it by replacing its narrow viewing slits with an inner circle of mirrors).

Teaser: Roger Linn Previews New LinnStrument
Unless you’re a musician AND a tech head, the name Roger Linn won’t ring a bell. But you have heard of prolific artist Prince and J Dilla. Well Linn is the man behind the machines (LinnDrum,& Akai MPC) that made these legends popular and changed the way music is created.
Mr. Linn has a new toy — the LinnStrument. It looks like an iPad with a grid of pressure sensitive note buttons to capture expression, pitch and timbre of each note individually and all at once. The product is not yet ready for mass consumption but take a sneak peek at the LinnStument prototype in action.
MS Paint Interpereted as audio data = Awesome music!

Just made a really weird and awesome discovery.
If you import an EXE file into an audio program as audio data, you hear all kinds of cool stuff. The most awesome by far for me was MS Paint.
It’s probably one of the coolest things I’ve ever heard form something like this. All I did to the audio was master it slightly to make it sound less harsh to the ears, as well as remove a long section of noise.

This is the Windows 7 x64 edition of mspaint.exe. I used Adobe Audition to import and edit the audio, but one could jsut as easily use Audacity’s “import Raw Data” feature. I imported this as 8-bit, 22050hz stereo audio. I faded in the beginning, as well as removing a long section of noise part of the way through.
