How to use the new NLog together with Ableton Live

May 22, 2011 · Posted in Uncategorized · Comments Off on How to use the new NLog together with Ableton Live

NLogPoly Synth app is a polyphonic and multi-timbral virtual analogue synth: So, you have 8 synths in one and each itself is polyphonic. Each synth has 4 OSCs, 2 FILTER, 4 ENVs & 4 LFOs plus its individual effect bank. In multi-layer set-up you have thus a polyphonic hyper-synth with 32 OSCs, 16 FILTERs etc. ! Each synth timbre can be assigned a dedicated MIDI channel and routed to a specific audio channel pair. Or you layer multiple sounds on the same MIDI channel.

The synth supports Apple’s CoreMIDI and CoreAudio technologies, so all compatible devices can be used. It can be played either from your external MIDI devices, or integrated into your DAW or Sequencer like Logic etc. using freeware virtual audio cables like Soundflower (http://cycling74.com/products/soundflower)

Exchange sound patches with iPad app “NLogSynth PRO” and read patches from iOS app “NLog MIDI Synth.”

“Nintendo EP” Free Download and Video

May 22, 2011 · Posted in Uncategorized · 1 Comment

AfroDJMac is a persistent man who made a promise to post something every week and so far he’s keeping that promise. Nintendo Entertainment System is the sound source for this cartoon for New York based AfroDJMac’s “Yea Yea Yea.” This animation was created for the Nintendo EP, an album made up of songs created with an NES.

Nintendo EP by AfroDjMac

The Nintendo EP is a collection of songs I’ve made over the years, using my Nintendo Entertainment System as a sound source.  Some of these songs have since seen many different incarnations, such as the surf rock take that was Psycho Rainbow, but these are the original versions.  Sometimes you are inspired to make music because of thoughts, feelings, other songs you like, etc. These songs were inspired by the sound of the Nintendo.  Those familiar timbres are what really got these tracks off the ground, and from there the other aspects of songwriting were applied.  You’ll hear guitars, basses, and drums, but I don’t think these songs would have come to life without our little grey 8-bit friend.  Please feel free to download the EP and show your friends, put it on playlists, add to your blog, and give it to your uncle Otis who happens to have major connections in the music industry :)

Live performance with JM Jarre

May 22, 2011 · Posted in Uncategorized · Comments Off on Live performance with JM Jarre

The concert dates back to 2007, but it is a nice capture of the synth maestro himself performing Oxygene II. It was first released in France in December 1976, on Disques Dreyfus with license to Polydor. The album’s international release was in summer 1977. Jarre recorded the album in his home using a variety of analog synthesizers and other electronic instruments and effects. It became a bestseller and was highly influential in the development of electronic music. It is Jarre’s first mainstream success, and can be seen as his first real artist album. It has been described as the album that “led the synthesizer revolution of the Seventies.

Enjoy!
