Analogue Solutions Europa sequencing the Omega 8 and Perfourmer

November 14, 2010 · Posted in Uncategorized · Comments Off on Analogue Solutions Europa sequencing the Omega 8 and Perfourmer

Calvin Cardioid aka cl516 has uploaded a nice run through of the Europa

Quick video showing the Analogue Solutions Europa sequencing the Omega 8 and Perfourmer.  I really wanted the groove to be kept constant in this video.   It’s pretty much just the two synths, Machinedrum providing tempo and drums, and a little bit of Waves H-Delay.  The Europa certainly wasn’t pickup and use right away, but after reading the manual, I’m starting to get the hang of it.  Those keys on the left make it so simple to transpose or tap out a small melody.  It’s also very easy to mute tracks and switch patterns on the fly.  As for the synths, both the Omega and Perfourmer are quite handy for this type of use: Omega can have each of its 8 voices on a different MIDI channel in multi-mode, and same with Perfourmer and its 4 voices

Vince and the Analogue Monologues part II

Synth pop legend Vince Clarke (Yazoo, Erasure, Depeche Mode) is back with another episode of his Web series, Analogue Monologues, which offers his take on classic synths:

The Analogue Monologues is a new series of mini video documentaries. In each webisode Vince talks about one his analogue synths and explains where the on/off switch is. This series proves, once and for all, that he really doesn’t know much about anything (a must see!).

The 2nd episode takes an entertaining look at a Clarke’s massive 12 VCO Roland System 100m.

Using a hacked Super8 projector

Nice demonstration from this performance

This is a totally diferent work from my previous ones and my first project playing solo with only an analog synth with which i have been playing in collective ensembles for more than four years in improvised contexts.

The super 8 projector was hacked so that the amplitude of the sound played controls the intensity of the light bulb and also control the speed of the projector flickering.
The performance develops in several stages, with different burning processes and different sound approaches.

Easy-to-use, VST analog-style synthesizer

August 6, 2010 · Posted in Uncategorized · Comments Off on Easy-to-use, VST analog-style synthesizer

The FreeAlpha is a highly flexible, easy-to-use, VST analog-style synthesizer. The FreeAlpha is 12 note-polyphonic and features a classic subtractive design that includes two versatile oscillators, a fat, rich-sounding filter, two envelopes, an LFO, a chorus effect, as well as numerous processing and modulation options. Special attention has been paid to recreating the warmth and feel typically found in early-1980s analog synthesizers.

The FreeAlpha’s oscillators provide an extensive range of waveform types from classic analog to hardcore digital. Both oscillators have a unique BAL (Balance) control that lets you create a waveform that is a hybrid of two others giving the user almost limitless timbrel possibilities. Special attention has been paid to the design of the FreeAlpha’s filter so that it replicates the rich sound of a true analog filter. The filter is highly flexible with lowpass, highpass and bandpass options available.

A key feature of the FreeAlpha is its Modulation Matrix. This virtual “patchbay” allows the creation of four custom routings from any of fifteen modulation sources to twelve different modulation destinations. The FreeAlpha also includes a chorus effect and a sophisticated portamento section that offers three portamento modes including a pre-set bend mode. And for true analog sound, the FreeAlpha includes a Precision control that allows you to introduce small inaccuracies into the FreeAlpha’s signal chain. This allows you to fine-tune the synth’s sound, creating anything from analog-style warmth to cold, digital hardness.

All these features make the FreeAlpha the perfect and free introduction to the world of analog-style VST synthesis.
