Free loudness maximizer effect plug-in
LoudMax is a free loudness maximizer effect plug-in for Mac & Windows.
LoudMax is described as a maximizer with a transparent sound, designed to retain the original character of the music as much as possible even at high compression levels.
New In LoudMax V1.09
- LoudMax VST Plugin ported to Mac OS X. Audio Unit version implemented using Symbiosis from NuEdge Development. Support for Intel Mac and Power PC.
- Winamp Plugin now supports 5.1 Surround. Built-in stereo overdrive protection to avoid distortions in a subsequent stereo downmix.
- Improved limiter algorithm. Transients will remain better.
- Improved release curve at high compression levels for an accurate sound and less artifacts.

Vintage peak limiter effect
Sir Elliot launches Peak Limiter, a free peak limiter effect for Windows.
“This is a very simplistic yet useful Peak Limiter. As the name implies it’s sole purpose is to prevent overshoot, which is common with high dynamic music without the artefacts of a compressor.
Power Consumption is under 1% on a Pentium 4, 2.8 GHZ CPU in addition to managing 384 kHz sample rate files with no issues whatsoever.”

Free spectrum analyzer
PiTone Systems has released Specan32, a free spectrum analyser effect plug-in for Windows.
This 1/3rd octave spectrum analyzer VST plugin is based on the GOST 17168-82 — Filters electrical octave and third-octave. General technical requirements and methods of testing. And also meets IEC804:1985 — Standard Specification for Integrating-averaging sound level meters.
Interface is modelled on classic DN60 spectrum analyzer by Klark Teknik, originally developed 1980.
Our plugin adds “high precision” filters and full frequency scale of GOST 17168-82 standard.
Specan32 is available to download as a freeware VST effect plug-in for Windows.

Free retro-style software synth plugin
Angular Momentum has released Retronix, a free retro-style software synth plugin for Windows.
The synth features 2 x 5 oscillators and one of them offers a wavetable mode with 135 waves.
The filter has overdrive, key tracking, an ADSR envelope and an extra High Pass filter to filter out unwanted low frequencies.
Not just another simple VA synthesizer – Alphatron
Alphatron is not just a simple VA synthesizer instead in using a 3rd oscillator with digital waves it does offer a lot more variation. Thus it can do analogstyle sounds reminding of the old Moog and Prophet days but also merge this with the digital realm in various ways to achieve sounds beyond.
Another big highlight of Alphatron is the versatile step sequencer with 8 + 4 pattern slots which can be selected at realtime for instant pattern switching.
Plus Step Variation which is in fact aonther 16 step sequencer to set different number of steps to be played in succession. Two alternating semitone offsets can be set e.g. for each 2nd, 3rd or 4th loop.
Main features (based on Pro version):
Note: Both EG have 3 modes: exponential, reverse exponential, and linear; and optional control for Attack and Decay by velocity
