Exclusive interview with Foxx and JM Jarre
French composer, performer and music producer Jean Michel Jarre was in London recently where he was presented with “The MOJO Lifetime Achievement Award” by non other than John Foxx. Jean Michel Jarre: “What happened was an absolute surprise for me. Such a brilliant audience was attending the event, Jimmy Page, members of Depeche mode, Radiohead, Sigur Ros, Devo, Florence and the Machine, Anthony and the Johnsons, Blur, Stone Roses, Jarvis Cocker, Roger Daltrey, Emilou Harris, Mark Almond from Softcell either receiving or giving an award. At the end of the ceremony, John Foxx from Ultravox presented the award to me. I have been so moved by what Phil Alexander, the chief editor of Mojo magazine and John said about my music and my concerts. How new, different and influential it has been until now. What an honor coming from such brilliant artists and in London!”
JM Jarre receives prize
Jean Michel Jarre received the MOJO Lifetime Achievement award, presented by John Foxx.
After the award, Jarre had a special message for his fans:
Dear Friends,
First of all, I would like to pay tribute to all my fans around the world who are supporting my work constantly.
It has been one of the most encouraging elements of my life, and particularly this past year, for all the reasons you know.
The feedback, I receive from you all, night after night, in each city I am playing at the moment, is just great and gives me the energy to go on.
I want you to know that I share this Mojo Award with you all, around the world, because in a sense I feel that you deserve it also…

JM Jarre goes Avatar
Jean Michel Jarre is filming his latest concerts in 3D, using the same cameras used to shoot James Cameron’s pioneering 3D film Avatar.
Jarre was contacted by Panasonic, which developed the cameras, about filming the concerts in 3D and high-definition sound.
Jean Michel Jarre’s 3D concert film will be released in 3D and 2D later this year, according to Jarre. He calls 3D filmmaking as “important a revolution as going from black-and-white to color.”
Jarre previously released Jean Michele Jarre’s Oxygene: Live In Your Living Room as a 3D film, using older 3D technology.

Creating cool sounds on the microKORG
As most of you probably already know I am big fan of KORG and therefore when I saw this on Youtube I just had to make a mirror of it here on my blog, enjoy!

Here’s what the authour has to say about it:
“This is my first attempt at creating a program for the microkorg, so I picked up a sound that is easily recognizable. This is certainly not the best Synthex “laser harp” sound recreation around, but it should provide a good start for tweaks and improvements. The idea should work with any two-oscillator analog or analog-modeled synthesizer with oscillator sync, filtering and some kind of pitch envelope for the sync sweep. Actual values used in each parameter are shown in parentheses.”

Now this is something that I never would have expected to see. Jean Michel Jarre, the undisputed king of grandiose stage shows on a tour of small venues, where everything is performed live without computers. The reason for this unusual move is the 30th anniversary of the groundbreaking “Oxygene” album. Jarre decided that is was time for a new master recording in high definition audio, but at the same time he also performed the whole album live, together with three musicians. This was recorded and released as a DVD; “Oxygene – Live in Your Living Room” and it’s this performance that is now taken out on the road.
