Stereoklang interview with Canadian noise band Memmaker
Stereoklang had a quick chat with the band Memmaker when they performed live at this year’s ElectriXmas in Malmoe Sweden
Memmaker is a Canadian noise/IDM band currently based in Copenhagen, DK
Noise transformed into ambient music
This music is entirely created with noises recorded from 1.580 streets.
audioscan is a multimedia interactive installation and a live performance combining music and video. Both are based on the sound mapping of Milano.
At the basis of audioscan there are 1.580 recordings and phonometric surveys gathered within the perimeter contained in the main ring road of Milano. audioscan puts itself up as a chance to reflect on the features of the sound surrounding us and the spaces we act in. A process of meeting and exchange between contemporary art, music and environmental themes, a meditation on soundscape and the auditive dimension of human experience, both on an aesthetic and a social perspective.
An ambitious cataloguing work and an environmental awakening project through the transformation of a waste product of technological society – noise – into an artwork.
Subtle noise maker
SubtleNoiseMaker introduce Cacophonator II. A self contained sound generator that features six oscillators that modulate each other. The prevailing function of the circuit changes from a deterministic to stochastic mode. Increasing difficulty to predict complex behavior. One unique aspect of this device is it permits the user to increase the power supply impedance intentionally, and therefore the effect degree of interaction within the circuit. Free noise maker
Togu Audio Line has released version 2.56 of TAL-NoiseMaker, a free virtual synthesizer instrument for Windows and Mac.
This release should increase the compatibility and includes changes in GUI handling, because of compatibility reasons. It wasnt possible to to scale the plugin size without flicker and other repaint issues within some hosts. Support of All Notes Off should avoid hanging notes while stopping some hosts. This release fixes also some memory leaks while closing the plugin.
Changes in TAL-NoiseMaker v2.56
- Changed GUI handling for compatibility reasons within some hosts.
- All notes off added.
- Other small bugfixes.
TAL-NoiseMaker is available as a free download for PC and Mac (VST/AU).

ProTrekkr is back with more chip
“ProTrekkr (formerly known as NoiseTrekker by Juan Antonio Arguelles Rius aka Arguru) is a tracker program combining a software synthesizer together with a traditional samples tracker which can be used to create electronic music (like psytrance, trance goa, hard acid, IDM, chip, techno, etc.) for small sized intros, demos or games.”
Changlog:
– Improved midi in/out support (notably by adding velocity).
– Default instruments volumes are always turned on now
as they’re used for midi output.
– Added 3 new themes.
– Tracker sometimes crashed at exit when using midi.
– Mouse wheel activated for horizontal patterns slider.
– Fixed a small issue with vu meters values.
– Number of effects columns is now selectable (from 1 to 4).
– Added synth oscillators combiner.
– Each track now have separate volume.
– Added lo/med/hi bands equalizers for each track.
– Delay send had precedence over command 10
when updating track tab during play.
– Fixed up reverb code (should sound cleaner too)
and added stereo separation parameter.
– Flanger speeded up.
– Right mouse button in lists arrows is now active
(jump to previous/next letter group for files lists).
– Added 13 new (converted) modules for testing purposes
also improved (?) older modules to take advantage of new features.
– A file name can now be passed as argument to the tracker, it will
be loaded at startup (can load any file recognized by the tracker).
(this can be used to associate .ptk files to the tracker).
– Default repeat loop row is now 0 (was disabled before).
– Improved .mod/.ft import.
– Glide effect (5) should now work with synth instruments.
– Tracks data weren’t displayed properly sometimes.
– Fixed a bug in tracks filters.

from a midi device (like a master keyboard).
– Added effect 25: Set shuffle value.
– Metronome implemented (used during recording).
– Fullscreen mode is now used with current screen resolution.
– Handled latency at recording startup (so visuals should be synched to audio).

Trash Audio & Xart Synth Meet 8
There was a lesson to be learned about having the synth meet two days: don’t do it. I won’t get into the energy dynamics and various reasons but aside everyone being tired the second day – we all had fun. I was able to meet new people, see friends from around the country, learn about new gear and watch you all get drunk. Hopefully you were able to get something out of it as well. Thanks to all of the magnificent manufacturers graced us with their presence and schooled us all!
Learn the secrets of white noise
How to make a white noise build up in Ableton
Stockhausen and white noise
A video featuring Stockhausen performing the noise based Song of the Children, via Collhouse
Karl-Heinz Stockhausen’s 1956 piece ‘Gesang Der Junglinge’ (Song of the Children) analysed song verses into their elementary phonetic components and deployed electronically generated aperiodic sound – more commonly known as ‘white noise’.
The Disabled Avant-Garde also generate white noise in this piece by varying the syne-waves produced by a loudly whistling boiling kettle. As with Stockhausen, a vocalist intones ‘inside’ the white noise (but using a different song – something by Roy Orbison).
The total effect produced is to provide the listener with no idea whatsoever of what it must sound like to be profoundly deaf
