Buchla + MonoMachine = Sweet

April 16, 2011 · Posted in Uncategorized · Comments Off on Buchla + MonoMachine = Sweet

Controlling and processing the Buchla through my Elektron MonoMachine proved to be totally lovely! This is something I’ll spend a lot of time doing in the future. The rhythm based delay and reverb inside the MM and the very dynamic timbres of the Buchla match very nicely.

Future Prophecies

April 16, 2011 · Posted in Uncategorized · Comments Off on Future Prophecies

Since I was in Toronto last week I thought fitted in quite nicely:

Future Prophecies is an epic tale of heartbreak, friendship and survival. Watch and listen as music intertwines the lives of many and brings them together to take back their city in one of the most original adventure stories of the decade.

In the future, post-apocalyptic Toronto remains one of the last global strongholds. The streets have fallen to a fleet of crime-ridden survivalists run by the ruthless tycoon Doyle Delano. Delano owns Bogtown Records, a powerful corporation investigated for human experimentation before WWIII. Bogtown is rumored to be picking up where they left off with their unthinkable work, and have only begun to implement their evil plan for the city. Without a structured government in place, dark days have descended.

Decklyn Dubs, a local underground club owner uncovers the company’s mysterious past and their horrifying new agenda. He realizes that there is only one person can help to overcome Bogtown and restore Toronto.

Sara Simms is no ordinary DJ/producer; she is rumored to have retreated to the sewer to escape her turbulent past. In the depths of the underground she learns to use her supernatural powers to control musical technologies. Now time is running out, and Decklyn Dubs must locate her in time to stop Bogtown.

Sara Simms, the unassuming heroine, is a timeless character who will convince you there is a hero inside all of us. Join Sara and her crew as they battle against Bogtown, fighting for freedom, music, their city and each other. The Torontonian DJ’s, producers and barflies will have you cheering in your seat as they prove that an uprising can originate from the darkest and most unlikely places. Future Prophecies features the next generation of Toronto’s electronic music producers and DJs, including:

Like a clock, only on an Arc from monome. Silly technical demo app, but it translates hours, minutes, seconds and milliseconds onto the arcs 64 led displays. If you don’t count the numbers and read them as clock faces it actually works.

Code coming soon, with v0.2 which will include an alarm set functionality.

Looped Moog lap steel guitar

I guess we don’t write about lap steels every week, but if a man in a dragon shirt (Bill Waker) plays a Moog lap steel with massive looping it’s irresistable 😉

DS-8 Clone Analog Drum Synth Machine Kit – Synthrotek – Vintage percussion beats
The DS-8 was originally designed by Coron in the 80′s to be mounted on to a drum to in order to produce synth percussion sounds. Similar to the DS-7, which contained a VCO +VCA chain. The LFO modulated the VCO and the decay envelope is triggered by a piezz0 cell. The Decay Pot is really a release and the VCA is controlled by the LFO. The DS-8 added a colored noise generator with a balance pot, which allows more hi-hat and snare “sounds” to be achieved. PC Board measures 5 & 5/8ths X 2 & 5/8ths inches. This PCB is MADE IN THE USA and up to Synthrotek’s fine specs. The Pots can be through-hole mounted, for an easy build.
