Running a simple sequence using the Analogue Systems rs200 Sequencer
We just received the very first shipment of Pittsburgh Modular Analog Delay modules. This module is awesome!
We’re running a simple sequence using the Analogue Systems rs200 Sequencer, Livewire AFG, Division 6 Filtaire, Analogue Systems rs60 Envelope Generator, A.S. rs85 LFO, and the Malekko VCA. We used the LFO’s triangle output to modulate the delay time, then the feedback amount. This is a really well designed and beautiful sounding delay module and we are happy that it’s available now. 
A basic initial overview of the awesome Pittsburgh Analog Delay module. Piston Honda is the audio source, with Maths and .VCA for shaping. The excellent Pittsburgh Timetable is driving a Rene’, which provides quantized pitches to the Piston as well as non-quantized CV to the Delay Rate of the Analog Delay later on in the video.

OMD announce ‘History of Modern Tour – Live in Berlin’ CD/book
OMD will release a live album (and book) recorded at The Tempodrome, Berlin on November 18th 2010. This limited edition collectors CD and hardback (silver embossed) book includes exclusive images from the OMD tour, never seen before hand written notes by the band, recent letters from the band to the fans and a selection of lyrics.

Nice patching with the CGS01 Sub Oscillator and Harmonic Sequencer
A demonstration of a patch involving the CGS01 Sub Oscillator and Harmonic Sequencer. It is generating the two voices heard at first. The I mixed in a few other voices coming from the Q960 and Q119 sequencers. The sequencers are shifted by the events going on in the CGS01 unit.
I recorded a tune with this patch as a basis but I thought the patch in itself was pretty fun so I made a video of it for people to see.
Prophet 600 playing by itself in a duet with piano
I hadn’t used my prophet 600 (mid 80’s analog synthesizer) for a long time. When I took it out to a gig it started playing by itself, changing sounds and pitch randomly, it was quite musical I think. I sat down at the piano and improvised together with it while my friend Chris filmed.
Please do comment if someone has a technical explanation on how it could play by itself! The buttons have not been working very well for a while, I think it’s something to do with the computer that scans the settings of the buttons, and also which keys are being pressed down, and this function was obviously not working as it should.
Funny thing is how it stopped at the end of this video at the same time as I stopped.
After I left it plugged in for 48 hours it has gradually come back to normal, so no more music from it.I’m thinking that maybe one year in a flightcase was to much for it to take, so it had a lot of music inside that just had to come out.

Behind The Wall
On the 20th of may, 10 sound installations were placed in Södermalm, Stockholm to promote JAYS headphones (jays.se/ ). For 72 hours, participants could listen to different binaural sound recordings and experience something truly out of the ordinary.

A greek god provides percussions to Ableton
Soniccouture and Ableton have released Morpheus, described as a ‘unique take on a most unusual mallet percussion instrument’, for Ableton Live.
Named after the Greek god of dreams, the Freenotes Morpheus is a modular metallic instrument consisting of a series of metal bars, each attached to its own resonator. With no damping, the notes buzz freely, allowing for lush, ringing pads and sharp attacks alike.
The Morpheus is one of the cleanest, purest sounds you will hear – add tremolo and it sounds very much like a vibraphone, but with an extra ‘glass-like’ quality. Used with subtle delay and phase effects it takes on a hypnotic quality, showing why it is often used for mediative healing. Roll-off the attack transient and you’re left with an almost perfect sine-wave, but not quite; the gloss and shimmer of the metal still remain, making serene yet characterful sustained tones.
Beyond the multiple acoustic presets that come with Soniccouture Morpheus, there are also a series of abstract presets – the Morpheus, sculpted into ambient textures, lush pads, and other experimental timbres, loops and tones.
These presets demonstrate the malleability of the resonances of the Morpheus, and include complex chains of effects, with macros set to easily control the important nuances of the sounds.

The impressive Kurzweil in action
The Kurzweil K2000 is a 16 bit sampler with a complex synthesis architecture by Kurzweil Music Systems, similar to the EMU Emulator III. The K2000 features a technology dubbed V.A.S.T., which stands for “Variable Architecture Synthesis Technology”, a marketing term for the K2000’s digital signal processing (DSP) based sound processing system. It is variable in that the user can select different signal paths, which contain different DSP functions, for use in creating and shaping a sound. V.A.S.T. also includes an extensive modulation system, similar in concept to that of analog modular synthesizers. A wide array of modulation sources can be assigned to various parameters within a signal path, and modulation sources can be combined to create new modulation sources.
