Generative Music in the Blues Scale using AudioCubes and Ableton Operator
AudioCubes are shown in this video with the new free generative music app from Percussa, capable of generating complex melodies, using note intervals from the blues scale. Notes can be sent via MIDI to any compatible hardware or software such as the Operator synth in Ableton Live 8 in this example.
By adding cubes melodies can be added on top of each other. Rotate cubes to change number of notes played per bar, and place cubes next to each other to make them add to each other’s note intervals to create subtly changing melodies, which will continue to have a time and harmony relationship.

How to seriously hack the Kinect
Kinect for Xbox 360, or simply Kinect (originally known by the code name Project Natal), is a “controller-free gaming and entertainment experience” by Microsoft for the Xbox 360 video game platform. Based around a webcam-style add-on peripheral for the Xbox 360 console, it enables users to control and interact with the Xbox 360 without the need to touch a game controller, through a natural user interface using gestures and spoken commands. The project is aimed at broadening the Xbox 360’s audience beyond its typical gamer base. Kinect competes with the Wii Remote Plus and PlayStation Move and PlayStation Eye motion control systems for the Wii and PlayStation 3 home consoles, respectively.
In this video:
Matt Davis hacks a Kinect using OpenNI & Max/MSP. With it mapped to Ableton live and Henry Strange’s MIDI to DMX Laser Control System, Matt demonstrates this fun a/v control system.

Dorit explore the MOOG SOUND LAB’s theremin
Dorit Chrysler dynamically plays an original composition on her customized Moog Etherwave Pro, a theremin manufactured by Moog Music from 2004-2006, for an ethereal Moog Sound Lab.
To function as a one woman band, Dorit triggers a prerecorded backtrack on her laptop, adding vocals and Etherwave Pro theremin in real time. At her feet are a MF-104Z Analog Delay and an Akai Head Rush looper to add depth to her sound. Voila!
