Yamaha TX802 Demo. “Electronic Machine”
Here is a demo track of the Yamaha TX802 FM Synthesizer.
All sounds (including drums) are from the TX. The tune was recorded and mixed in Cubase, with effects added.

Despite its name, the TX802 FM Tone Generator is basically a rack-module version of the DX7mkII with full 8-part multi-timbral operation for sequencing and/or key mapping. It has 16-voices of polyphony and six digital FM Operators, the same as in the DX7mkII. There are 128 preset and 64 user patches for your sounds, as well as an external memory cartridge slot.
As if the large keyboard DX versions weren’t difficult enough to program, the TX802’s limited interface makes editing and programming your own sounds next to impossible without the help of external hardware or software editors. In the late 1980’s, the TX802 was an excellent way to get a compact box full of Yamaha’s DX sounds.
“As good as new” – on Elka organs
“As good as new” was the first track on ABBA’s Voulez-Vous album from 1979.
I am old enough to have heard it on the radio back in 1979 and I remember recording it on the horrible Electown cassette tape recorder that was my only means of recording sound back then.
Here I play it on the two Elka organs EP-8 and Preludio 22L.

Moonwalking my fingers all over my new Keith McMillen Qunexus. Everything was programmed in Korg Gadget, except the lead. Gadget still doesn’t receive pitch bend or mod cc, so I used Sunrizer for the lead. Enjoy!
Construction time again: ARP 2600 Clone Time Lapse
TTSH – ARP 2600 Clone Time Lapse Build. Track includs only sound from the finished TTSH, some additinal delay and eq :).
Martin Widmann documents his build of the ARP 2600 clone, the Two Thousand Six Hundred (TTSH) synthesizer. TTSH is based on the classic ARP 2600. It’s one of the nicest DIY projects and a a very complex build. The TTSH is available as a kit containing PCBs and front panel. Nothing is pre-built and no components are included, so you have to source your own parts.
The video is a time-lapse video, 36,852 pictures, taken every 5 seconds. The full build is shown, including: ttsh, midi interface, case, calibration & bug fixing.
The soundtrack was made with only the finished TTSH.
Introducing ‘sismo-qadrox’ – new synth player from Brazil

The Sismo Qad4 is a portable squarewave generator with four analog oscillators, ajustable by pitch potenciometers, built in amplifier and output, powered by batery or external power source. The Sismo Qadrox is a squarewave generator with four analog oscillators built in eight step sequencer, input to external clock, CV and sync outputs. The audio outputs have two options, one mono by the 3/4 inch (guitar plug) and RCA stereo, split the oscillators two per each side.
Front panel have nine potenciometers, is the CV sequencer (0-5 Volts) controlling the sound generator. The potenciometer in the middle is the sequencer pitch control.The lower panel have an external clock input and the clock output, internal or external and the CV sequencer output. The one switch change completely the sound generator, increment some sweeps, noises and lfos, charge and discharge capacitors. The another switch is a sequencer reset.

Elsa is a retro style sampling keyboard with tempo based looping. Record, save, load, reverse samples with a multi octave on screen keyboard or plug in your core midi device of choice, soft- or hardware. Elektron has released full specs on the new Analog Rytm, its new drum machine.
Eight analog drum voices take advantage of several dedicated analog circuit designs, each of them tuned for generating a distinct class of analog drum sounds. For percussive flexibility, every voice can also be ‘spiced up’ with customizable samples.
