Roland has introduced the SH-101 PLUG-OUT, a software synthesizer for the SYSTEM-1.

The SH-101 PLUG-OUT Software Synthesizer is a complete reproduction of the iconic SH-101 – right down to the fine details and odd quirks that make it one of the most popular classic synthesizers of all time.

Based on Analog Circuit Behavior (ACB) technology, it not only reproduces the SH-101’s legendary sounds, but faithfully recreates the very behavior of its analog circuitry – all with a level of authenticity that could only come from the company that created the original.

SH-101 PLUG OUT features

  • Total authenticity through face-to-face consultation with the original designers and relentless research beyond the original schematics.
  • Meticulously recreated oscillator and filter behavior – hallmarks of the SH-101 sound.
  • Authentic behaviors including the unique interaction between low pass filter and envelope controls.
  • Faithfully reproduces the unstable fluctuations that resulted from quirks in the SH-101’s circuitry.
  • Classic SH-101 synth sounds – bass, lead, noise, and sound effects.
  • Software layout features standard gray model, as well as red and blue models originally sold as limited editions.
  • Two envelope sections allow different settings for VCF and VCA while maintaining the option of classic SH-101 envelope behavior.
  • Reverb, chorus, delay and crusher effects that were not included in the original.
  • Run as many instances as your computer can handle.
  • Use SYSTEM-1 as a dedicated USB keyboard controller with lighted knobs and sliders that show only available parameters.
  • PLUG-OUT with SYSTEM-1 lets you take an authentic SH-101 wherever you go, from mobile production to live performance.
  • Transfer sounds between SYSTEM-1 and SH-101 with PLUG-OUT.
  • Supports Macintosh and Windows, and AU and VSTi formats.

The SH-101 PLUG-OUT synthesizer will be available to SYSTEM-1 users on July 24th, 2014.

Igor Vasiliev, creator of Audio Mastering for iPad, has announced a new convolution reverb for iPad and iPhone.

Using a convolution reverb, one can load ‘impulse responses’ of acoustic spaces or gear, effectively sampling the reverb or effect and allowing it to be applied to any signal.

Here’s what he has to say about the new iPad + iPhone convolution reverb:

The first convolution reverb for iPad and iPhone. The most realistic sound of a very famous reverb gears.

Includes a more than 100 samples of factory presets from different devices. Supports 64-bits processing. Inter-App Audio and Audiobus.

Has many options to tweak sample – parametric eq, envelope, stereo base, modulation, pre-delay, length.

Details on pricing and availability are to come, but he says that it is ‘coming soon.

Out on July 7th is the first all new material from Ernst Horn and Alexander Veljanov aka Deine Lakaien in years. The new EP “Farewell / Where the Winds don’t blow” (buy here) serves as a first taster for the all new album “Cyrstal Palace” which will be released in August. The EP features 4 tracks, including 2 exclusive versions of the album-track “Farewell” and the album-version of “Where the Winds don’t blow”. Add to that the exclusive track “Into Chaos”.

The “Crystal Palace” album will be out on August 19th and follows almost 4 years after their last album “Indicator”. For this 10th studio album the duo returns to the sonic atmospheres of the early days (1986-1990), when Ernst and Alexander first started to make electronic/darkwave. The 10-track album will be out in several versions, a normal CD set (buy here), a limited special edition in deluxe digipak (buy here), extended with three exclusive bonus tracks (“The Swan Song”, “Portuguese Trails”, “Pilgrim”), a very limited double-LP edition (including the CD in cardboard-sleeve) (buy here) and a special limited fanbox-edition (buy here).

The same day of the new album will also see the official release of the 2013 live album “Acoustic II” both on CD (buy here) and limited vinyl (buy here). The album was previously only available through a sound pledge from Deine Lakaien directly only.

Introducing Mitosynth

June 26, 2014 · Posted in Uncategorized · Comments Off on Introducing Mitosynth

A new hybrid additive/wavetable synth for iOS.
From Wooji Juice, creators of Sylo Synth and Grain Science.

For more information, check out: http://www.wooji-juice.com/products/m…

Or look it up on the App Store at: https://itunes.apple.com/app/id864041…

At the heart of Mitosynth is the Wavechamber. This is like a big vat where you pour in audio and mix it up. You can feed into it from the on-board additive synthesiser, you can record new samples right within Mitosynth, use any of the waveforms supplied with the app, or import your own from other apps using standard tools like AudioShare and AudioPaste.

You can also use the prefilter, which syphons off sound from the Wavechamber, applies an effect to it, then pours it back in for further mixing. In total a patch can have 32 pieces of audio in the Wavechamber. Each one can be mono or stereo, single-shot or looped.

Each voice has its own Wavechamber — the audio in the chamber is the same for all, but the blending can be different for each one. The results are then modulated (again, per voice) with your choice of modulation mode, and only then are the voices mixed together and sent through the subtractive-style, programmable global FX chain.

The FX chain lets you install the effects you want (multiple times, if you like) in any order. Just tap “add fx” and pick one out. Simple! The chain ends with a high-quality reverb unit for giving your audio that sense of vast space (of course, you can bypass it if that’s not your thing).

This is a powerful audio engine that you can easily tailor to your needs. But it’s only one half of the picture.
