Nice Roland Alpha-Juno 2 Polyphonic Analog Synthesizer Demo
This video demonstrates the sound of the Roland Alpha-Juno 2 polyphonic analog synthesizer.
This is an upgraded version of the Alpha Juno 1. It adds an extended 61 note keyboard with velocity and aftertouch and an external memory cartridge slot. Other than that it has the same great sound and features as the Juno 1. Sliders and buttons were replaced by membrane buttons and the Alpha Dial which is used to edit and browse through the extensive selection of parameters: DCO digitally controlled oscillators, LFO, bend, ENV, pulse, waveforms, noise, PW/PWM, high pass filter, VCF (filter) with freq/env/res/lfo/kybd, VCA envelope, chorus, and more.
Adequate in the studio or on the stage, the Juno 2 has 64 presets and 64 user memory patches, a nice LCD display, an LFO capable of a very slow rate for some cool sweeping effects, and a great bass sound (especially nice for acid basslines) and noise effects! It also has chord memory which is perfect for rave & techno, portamento and keyboard transposing. The PG-300 Synthesizer Programmer gives you traditional slider control of each parameter for much easier and faster editing.

UVI has announced the Energy 32-oscillator additive synthesizer
UVI has announced that its Energy 32-oscillator additive synthesizer (previously exclusive to the Vintage Legends bundle) is now available as a stand-alone instrument with an expanded preset library.
ENERGY is the product of a unique and extremely rare additive synthesizer from the early 80’s, the Digital Keyboards Synergy. Released in 1982, the DK Synergy was based on an extremely sophisticated additive engine for the time, derived from the nearly $30,000 Crumar GDS (General Development System) and famously used by Wendy Carlos on the original TRON soundtrack. In fact many of the Synergy’s presets were crafted by Carlos herself, who is noted to still use the synth to this day.
The Synergy had a short commercial run over 3 years, seeing less than 1,000 units produced as it was ultimately obscured by Yamaha’s runaway success with the far cheaper DX7. Actual production numbers are thought to be less than 700 units with very few of those surviving the last 30 years—making it an exceptionally rare instrument.
Rarity, prestigious lineage and pop-culture influence of the Synergy are only part of the intrigue. The Synergy was a conflicted instrument by design, especially for the time of its release. It offered an outrageous 32-oscillator sound engine with dual 16-stage loopable envelopes and a velocity sensitive 74-note keyboard. At the same time it was built with extremely prohibitive editing functionality, to the point of making it appear as more of a preset player than its control laden contemporaries. While programming the Synergy was far from an intuitive process it was indeed possible, and the results were truly stunning, both then and now.
Energy is available for purchase for $49 USD.

Redux – new performance-oriented sampler and phrase sequencer
The Renoise team has launched Redux, a performance-oriented sampler and phrase sequencer for Digital Audio Workstations and other plugin hosts on Windows, OSX and Linux.
Redux is a powerful sampler, supporting virtually unlimited samples and effects, with RAM and CPU being the only real limits to your creative freedom. As a sequencer, it has inherited and expanded upon a unique set of features from its bigger brother, Renoise.
Redux features an integrated work-flow for composition and performance. You can record new sounds from within the program itself and use the built-in waveform editor to edit and adjust these recordings. You can specify in great detail how the samples are triggered via your MIDI keyboard. So no matter if you are a traditional keyboard player or prefer to trigger sequenced sounds via drum pads, Redux is able to meet those demands, either in-studio or on-stage.
The software comes with a number of ready-to-use presets to help kick-start your creative process. This includes expressive synth patches, drum-kits, and complex sound environments.
Redux (VST/AU) is available for purchase for 58 EUR / $65 USD + VAT for EU customers.
Kenza Farah – “Toi Et Moi” (Elektron Octatrack + Analog Four Remix)
Background video description:
This is my remix of the very sentimental song “Toi Et Moi” written by my favorite French singer – Kenza Farah.
The remix was created using hardware synthesizer and sampler – Elektron Analog Four + Elektron Octatrack DPS-1. No software was used for remix creation, performance and recording. Yes, these Swedish Elektron machines can be used for creating the complete pop-music composition
This is a short description of how it’s been made. During the composition only 15 patterns are used. Octatrack & Analog Four are synced for pattern changes. Octatrack is in Arranger Mode (automatically switches patterns for me).
Tracks:
A. Elektron Octatrack (15 patterns, 6 scenes):
TR1: Kick + Clap / One Shot Samples, FX – Filter+Dark Verb
TR2: Hats
TR3: Sliced Loop (different slices&locks per step, linear slice locks function was used for cutting and rearranging the drum loop)
TR4: Pad (loop)
TR5: “Toi Et Moi” original track (Piano+Vocal only), stretched by Octatrack to 95 bpm.
TR6: FX slices from original track + Periodical Additional Melodic/Reversed Loops + Crash (Crash is programmed with one shot triggers, activated by Function+YES during performance)
TR7: Additional loop – Acoutic Drums & Breaks Loops
TR8: Master Track (FX1 – Filter, FX2 – compressor in parallel, mix 50/50)
B. Elektron Analog Four (15 patterns):
TR1: Pluck Lead
TR2: Arp/Pluck Lead
TR3: Bass
TR4: Lead
+ 3 performance mode settings (A: TR1+TR2 filter opening/closing, B: TR3 filter opening + decay time, C: TR4 – Filter Opening+Reverb Send Amount)
Original track is from Kenza Farah’s album Authentik.
Thank you, Kenza, for the inspiration and great song!
Lots of Respect from Moscow, Russia. 😉
Enjoy! 😉
