Image-Line is developing a native Mac version of FL Studio
Image-Line has announced it is developing a native Mac version of its FL Studio music production software.
A while back we started by testing a FL Studio Mac OS X BETA (Crossover Wrapped) version, with direct installation on Mac OS X. This was promising but it was still just a Windows program, wrapped by CrossOver, running on OS X. The interest in the wrapped beta, and the problems we faced supporting 3rd party VST plugins in it, lead the team to start work on porting our Windows-only VST plugins – Edison, Gross Beat, Harmless, Harmor, Maximus, Ogun, Slicex, Sytrus, Vocodex to OS X native VST format. You can get these plugins here.
The OS X VST plugin testing, was in fact, the stealthy beginnings of FL Studio native OS X compatibility development. These VST plugins use the exact same code-base as FL Studio itself, and if we could get these working to spec on OS X, then FL Studio would likely follow soon after.
Well, the plugin testing is progressing nicely, and so the team has turned their attention to FL Studio 12 itself. It’s a long and slow process and we can’t make any promises yet, since we may come across unexpected and or unsolvable technical problems. But work is indeed under way.
Moog Werkstatt – In depth exploration
no processing at all
In this tutorial we will be adding a button controlled vibrato effect using a photoresistor, LED, and Arduino microcontroller. By using an external circuit for vibrato we are able to free up our LFO for other forms of modulation.
Find complete fritzing models, Arduino code, more mods and tutorials here: http://bit.ly/WerkstattWorkshop
In this project we will use a 555 timer to create a second square wave LFO. By adding a second LFO we can create much richer textures and more complex sounds.
In this project we will be integrating an accelerometer to measure movement in three dimensions with our Werkstatt using an Arduino microcontroller. An accelerometer is a device that measures acceleration in three dimensions and outputs a corresponding voltage.

Visage’s Fade to grey in multitrack stems format
Visage in conjunction with August Day recordings have been sending us a copy of the the individual component recordings(stems) from the multi-track recordings of “Fade To Grey”, one of the biggest songs of the 1980s. “Fade To Grey” went to number one in over 15 countries, sold millions of copies and became one of the template tracks to the New Romantics and the synthesizer sound of the decade and beyond.
The stems are being released to coincide with the newly recorded orchestral version of “Fade To Grey” and the 12 song orchestral album “Orchestral” which features the Visage hits re-recorded with orchestral arrangements.
The Visage “Orchestral” album will be released December 8th 2014.

Vangelis – The Tegos Tapes
The Tapes were created by surgeon Dr. Stergios Tegos, and contain educational examples of his microneurosurgery work. Tegos asked Vangelis to create a soundtrack for the videos and Vangelis agreed, composing nearly 12 hours of some of his more ambient music.
This music was lost to obscurity for years, because of the esoteric nature of the videos.
This changed when Vangelis Collector’s Don Fennimore came across a copy, while traveling in Greece, and wrote about it at his site.
Vangelis’s music for The Tegos Tapes will probably never get an official release, but Neville Dorrington, co-host of the long-running Australian ambient music radio show,Ultima Thule, has shared edits of the soundtrack via Soundclound for streaming listening.
