Sounds of the Quadra

Update to Sounds of the quadra, now with better interface, sequencer updates, resonance in poly synth now better and lots of other great features.
Here’s what Synth Magic has to say about their virtual ARP Quadra:
This instrument has an user interface based on a real Quadra’s front panel. Once loaded into your Kontakt sampler, the thousands of lines of programming code creates a virtual Quadra synth experience with all the functionality of a real Quadra. All Sliders and envelopes have been calibrated and timed to behave like a real Quadra and there are lots of great extra features that really bring the Quadra synthesiser into the modern world.
Each section of the Quadra has been sampled.Every single note in every octave for every sound. There are no stretching of any samples across a key range for a true authentic sound. The programming code creates all the envelope calibrations as well as the Bass synth, String synth, Poly synth and lead synthesiser’s beautiful graphical user interface which allows the user to shape the sound from the front panel, just like a real Quadra. There are seperate effects sections for each synth section of the Quadra and an analogue sequencer that, again, draws its inspiration from ARP’s 1970′s sequencer and really gets the creative juices flowing.
Sounds of the Quadra retails for £19.99 GBP.

SPFX has released Sounds of the Quadra , a sample library for Native Instrument Kontakt. This is a fully fledged instrument for Kontakt 4, based on ARP’s 1978 Quadra synthesizer and has a beautiful, intuitive user interface based on the real Quadra’s front panel. As you may be aware the ARP Quadra has four synthesizer sections; there are Bass Synth, String Synth, Poly Synth and Lead Synth sections

There is even a 16 step analogue style sequencer based on ARP’s 1970′s design.
ARP Odyssey – a journey on Mars
Cool video from a live performance, very space ambient
Synthesizer live performance (excerpt) by Bruno Ender Lee; ARP Odyssey Mk III, Moog Little Phatty Stage II & Roland JP-8000. Friday, November 12. 2010 in Goldau (SZ) as supporting act to Bruno Stanek’s “Flugjahre zum Mond

The gear of John Foxx
Here’s a video coming from Future Music featuring John Foxx with loads of gear, so time for synth spotting I guess
Be sure to watch through the beginning for the gear tour. Tons of synth spotting. He gives a good comparison of the ARP Odyssey and Minimoog. The Yamaha CS1X gets a mention too! It’s fun digital PCM synth not to be confused with the AN1X virtual analog. Icy strings.
Cool stuff from Holotronica
Here’s a glimpse of my realtime composition using quartz composer. The track was created with an Arp Odyssey monophonic analogue synthesizer on the first day of owning it. All the sounds come from the Odyssey.
ARP emulation – The Pro SoloVst, download the demo here at Stereoklang
AM Music Technology has announced the release of version 2.0 of Pro SoloVst.
You can download here the demo version of the
AM Pro SoloVst for Windows and AU for Mac.
Changes include:
- New functionality: The Sustain Pedal control has been added.
- Improvements:
- All presets have been reviewed and improved to be extremely close to the original instrument sounds.
- A new more realistic graphic interface has been redesigned.
- Improvements have been made on some controls, like Brilliance, Portamento and Aftertouch.
- Major bug fix: Aliasing noise audible in some presets has been completely removed.
- Some minor bugfixes.
Pro SoloVst is an emulation of the ARP Pro Soloist monophonic analog synthesizer from the early 1970s. Pro SoloVst’s sound engine is a software emulation of the analog circuits implemented inside the original instrument: VCO, resonators, filters, VCF, VCA and analog effects. It offers a set of 30 voices corresponding to the presets of the original synthesizer.
Version 2.0 is available for Windows (VST) and Intel-Mac OS X (10.6+) (AU).
Price: EUR 29.99

Prophet'08 and Akai MPC released at NAMM
Prophet ’08 Synthesizer Module
A beauty!!
The Prophet ’08 Synthesizer Module is a tabletop “knobby” module with all of the features and controls of the Prophet ’08 Keyboard (minus the keyboard, of course) in an even more compact enclosure. Includes rack ears for optional rack-mounting. The eight-voice synthesizer with the completely analog signal path brought to the table features like velocity and aftertouch as well as an arpeggiator, gated stop sequencer, and split and layer sounds.

Akai MPC5000
The MPC5000 is the first MPC ever to include 8-track streaming hard disk recording, a 20-voice, 3-oscillator analog synthesizer with arpeggiator, a new sequencing engine with 960 ppq resolution, pad and track muting and mixing, 64 continuous sample tracks. There’s even a new FX engine with 4 FX buses and 2FX per bus.
In addition, the MPC5000 features a 64-voice drum/phrase sampler with 64MB memory Ð expandable up to 192MB. The display is twice the size of the MPC2500 and MPC1000 so waveforms appear crystal-clear. Integrated Chop Shop 2.0 now supports stereo chops and Patched Phrases. The MPC5000 is the first MPC to include Random and Cycle sample playback in addition to velocity Zone Play. A turntable preamp is also included.
The MPC5000’s virtual analog synth eliminates need for external analog synth modules or buggy software based synthesizers. The new 8-track direct to disk recorder lets you produce your whole song in the MPC and then mix it down with the internal sequenced programs and any input thru material. Add the optional CD/DVD drive and you can then burn an audio or data CD or your mix. Over 650MB of premium-quality sounds from Loopmasters are included to get you up and running with pro-quality production in seconds.
