Buchla: DIY 158, Delay & Joystick
Background video description:
Breaking in a new DIY Buchla format “Retro 158” dual oscillator that I just made. Also testing a one-off Buchla format Joystick I’m building.
The delay is a Modcan 59a Digital Delay, re-faced with a custom Buchla style panel that I created the artwork for.
I’m using the Joystick module to alter pitch and audio attenuation – as well as pulsing the delay for a sync.
These make up a KILLER sci-fi efx box 
MacBeth – prototype of a hardware instrument with its own touch keyboard built in
Modular synthesis maestro Ken MacBeth, has revealed this yet-unnamed instrument on Facebook this weekend. Of the new design, MacBeth says that it has “four oscillators, two noise generators, one LFO, a dual stage variable filter, four envelope generators, two VCAs (Stereo) and a stereo tape delay”.
It seems that this synth is something that Ken has had in mind for a while, too: “It’s been a long term development over years,” he says. “The micromac series has been designed for those who wish for the vintage ‘Moog-like’ sound – this is a completely different design!”
No news on when we can expect the synth to come to market, but SBC will be monitoring its progress.

Euro bow interface prototype
Peter Speer demonstrates his DIY Euro Bow Interface – a unique bowed string instrument he uses with his Eurorack modular synthesizer.
Technical details below.
Hollow laser cut MDF enclosure, with a guitar string pulled across two zither pins and a contact mic underneath (connected to the front jack).
Bow is homemade, too (2×4 + horsehair).
Pressure Points and the Wogglebug’s Stepped Out (triggered by the Pressure Points) are controlling the frequency on the DPO, as well as the pitch shift on the Echophon. The envelope out from an A-119 is opening the low pass gate on the output and controlling the modulation index on the DPO.
Ruin Electronics ATOM mini modular synthesizer
This is the ATOM, a hand made mini modular synthesizer by Ruin Electronics.
The ATOM features 2 VCOs (Voltage Controlled Oscillator) with triangle and square waveshapes, a VCA (Voltage Controlled Amplifier), Lowpass resonant VCF (Voltage Controlled Filter), a three input mixer, and 3 1/4″ to banana converters.
The mixer features high gain and will be able to convert a signal from a guitar pedal to synth levels.
The VCOs can go from sub-audio LFO ranges up into audio.
The VCF is a unique lowpass filter that is in no other device.

Echophon Karplus – Strong test
Modulating the Echophon’s pitch shifter and delay times to simulate Karplus-styled string modelling.
Signal path: DPO Final out–> Wogglebug ring mod in –> Wogglebug center out –> LPG –> Echophon –> LPF
A contact mic under the Moog Prodigy to the right is fed into a Maths channel– tapping on the Moog (or anything on the desk, really) triggers an envelope which opens a VCA, letting quick burst of signal into the Echophon.
The first row of the Pressure Points is controlling the pitch shift amount.
Basic patch on a mostly – Make Noise 6U system
A 5-module patch (DPO, Echophon, QMMG, Wogglebug and Pressure Points). Signal path: DPO VCO-2 sine out –> QMMG LPG –> Echophon. Pressure Points and the Wogglebug provide modulation.
An amazing range of sounds are possible with this system.

Synthwerks FSR-1T Quick Overview
This is just a quick overview of the FSR-1T, the producer of this video was using it to control some TipTop Drum modules so you can get an idea for how the various gate outs and modes work.
The FSR-1T is a single channel FSR module, based on the FSR-1N, but has a large square Force Sensing Resistor sensor that translates the pressure the performer applies to its sensing pads into a user adjustable scaleable control voltage, and an adjustable threshold dependent gate signal. The FSR-1T also adds a section with an electronic bi-directional switch that toggles one input/output between two other inputs/outputs (A & B) or visa versa. This toggle action is driven from the standard gate out from the FSR’s gate out. An internal jumper chooses whether the drive gate is pre or post the level threshold circuitry. A front panel switch can choose whether the switch operates in toggle (on-off-on) or momentary modes. The electronic switch is bi-directional and able to pass DC and AC voltages. The IN/OUT jack is normalize to a +V and its output at A & B in toggle mode, will act as a toggling gate at one half the frequency of the standard Gate out. LEDs indicate the active state of all gate outputs.
The FSR-1T is 10HP in width and has a MSRP of $195 (US)

Just a quick run through the features of the new Tyme Sefari Mk2, details below:
I used a sample from the Radiohead song Idioteque to messabout with, hope this gives some people some idea of what can be achieved with this module. Of course this is a mere snapshot of what it can do and the vast amount of CV control possible with this module leads to some exceptionally creative manipulation of samples.
