Loopy 2 drum sequencer interface early preview

March 4, 2011 · Posted in Uncategorized · Comments Off on Loopy 2 drum sequencer interface early preview

Early preview of Loopy 2’s new drum sequencer, built over the last three days.

No percussion type icons yet, but the rest is basically there:
– Full zoom/pan interface for use on an iPhone screen (although this was the simulator, operated with a mouse cursor).
– Two velocity levels available for each cell (127 volume levels supported in the back end, but not in the interface yet)
– 12 instruments
– Custom sound set support, so you can built your own kit from your own sample set and import it into Loopy

This is unlikely to be in Loopy 2.0, but expect it around version 2.1.

MIDI Sequencer test

March 3, 2011 · Posted in Uncategorized · Comments Off on MIDI Sequencer test

I built a cliplead patchbay MIDI sequencer using the HighlyLiquid MIDI CPU kit: highlyliquid.com/midi-controllers/midi-cpu/

The nail and cliplead design is inspired by the work of Talking Computron.

The sequencer is a CMOS 4017 decade counter.

The MIDI notes are running to a MeeBlip synth: meeblip.noisepages.com/

A clock signal is being provided by Ableton Live, which also syncs up the drum track and bassline.

A tribute to Spectralis

February 10, 2011 · Posted in Uncategorized · Comments Off on A tribute to Spectralis

Made for fun, hope nobody is bothered by the videocrap, its about the music, just to improve my skills with this machine and to have more different sound examples of the Spectralis in the net, I think its a great workstation, with a lot of soundpotential, not easy to learn, but unmatched for complex rythms and pseudo hardsequencing, cheers make music rainmaindein

Kutter – a nice frequencies cutter effect

February 1, 2011 · Posted in Uncategorized · Comments Off on Kutter – a nice frequencies cutter effect

Kutter is a frequencies cutter effect. Cuts frequencies on the 12 bands easily and synchronizes the effect on the beat with the 16 steps modulation sequencer. It’s key features are that it cuts frequencies easily, on 12 bands from bass to mid range, high mid and treble ranges. There is an on board “Sharp” and “Boost” effect. The effect can be modulated with the 16 step sequencer synced with the BPM of your digital audio workstation. Control the speed of the steps and change the play direction of the sequence. All parameters can easily be assigned to MIDI controllers. You can use the learn parameter by moving the control on your MIDI controller to assign MIDI controllers to the buttons. Users can also randomly generate an effect with a single click and cancel changes on all buttons just as easily.

Feature highlights

* 12 bands frequencies cutter
* 16 steps modulation sequencer
* Sequencer play forward or reverse
* Full MIDI automation
* Easy MIDI learn on all parameters
* Use 7-bit MIDI Continuous Controller or High resolution 14-bit MIDI NRPN and RPN
* Phase inverter, Effect bypass, Gain boost
* Works in mono or strereo
* Patch manager, rename, copy, save, load…
* Undo your changes to initial patch value
* Randomize parameters position
* 32 Factory presets
* Up to 128 user presets per bank
* Easy installer
System requirements

Free MIDI sequencer

January 29, 2011 · Posted in Uncategorized · Comments Off on Free MIDI sequencer

SEQ541 is a free MIDI pattern sequencer for OS X.

The program is designed to be extremely flexible, all it requires is that you have an external MIDI device generating a clock and it will output notes in time to a pattern sequence you specify.

Features/Limitations:

  • you can’t record patterns, only input them via mouse
  • 128-note polyphony
  • you can run as many pattern sequencers simultaneously as your CPU can handle
  • you can store as many patterns as you want per sequencer
  • while playing, transitions to the next pattern don’t occur until the current pattern is done playing
  • variable pattern length: 16, 32, 48 and 64 notes
  • variable note length: 16th note through whole note in 16th note steps
  • fixed note-on velocity 0×64
  • play/stop must be driven from an external MIDI source
  • MIDI clock must be from an external MIDI source
  • can drive any hardware or software MIDI device
  • can echo MIDI clock to the external MIDI device (for arpegio or whatever)
