Alison Moyet and Vince Clarke will perform live together as Yazoo for the first time in 25 years. The seminal electro duo will play a five venue tour called Yazoo Reconnected in June 2008. As well as their classic hits of Only You and Don’t Go, Yazoo will perform tracks from the album You and Me Both for the first time. They will perform together for five gigs:

June 4 Glasgow, 7 Manchester, 12 Wolverhanpton, 15 Brighton and 18 London.

Exclusive ticket pre-sale available on January 25 at alisonmoyet.com.

– It’s been really good going back to these songs after such a long while. Many of them have never been played live. I’m looking forward to performing them with Alison for all the fans who’ve enjoyed our music through the years but never had a chance to see Yazoo in concert, Clarke says.

No NAMM without Moog :-)

Old School…, nothing I would choose at this point and definately not on my top 5 wish list, but of course if someone would offer it to me for a good discount, perhaps the cute girl in the picture…

…the new synth with the analog sound engine of the Voyager, but without the digital controls. The perfect solution for players looking for a road-worthy replacement for their venerable Minimoog Model D, a full-featured centerpiece for their modular synth rig or just craving direct, hands-on connection to their creativity!

See more here >>

It also made me come to think of this old ad on eBay:

Aelita

“Synth was made in 80’s years in USSR. It is soviet version of the famous Minimoog synth. Synthesizer has very original ‘transformer’ design with removing main operation panel. Synth looks very industrial and military, like the soviet secret weapon. Aelita is fat sounding synth with quite unique sound due to original soviet analog circuitry and electronic components.”

Could not have writed better, new friend. The Aelita is a 3-oscillator monosynth with independently detunable oscillators, a 24 dB/Octave Moog ladder filter, dual ADS envelopes and an LFO with triangle, square, saw and ramp waveforms. There’s no weak westernized MIDI or decadent capitalist on-board microprocessor to store patches. You’ll have to do it the Soviet way: By hand.

This is soooo cool – Percussa AudioCubes

January 21, 2008 · Posted in Electronic Music · Comments Off on This is soooo cool – Percussa AudioCubes

Although at first glance it looks similar to the PETECUBE they seem to have a very different approach in actual interaction, in particular the use of multiple cubes for control. A nice feature is it looks like they can be used without a computer to both generate sound and also apply effects. Watch the video below!

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gcsilckw0iY]

PERCUSSA AudioCubes is a revolutionary new electronic sound generator, processor and controller, available from PERCUSSA.

You can use it to control MIDI compatible software and instruments, generate lofi sound with them or process lofi sound.

Each cube can be reprogrammed from your computer over USB and has built in full colour light sources. They also come with samples by Loopmasters and Max/MSP patches.

In the video Tobias Von Hofsten (aka ONE, http://vonhofsten.com/) is using the cubes with his Elektron Machinedrum.

Rack mounted iPod – Finalllyyyyy

As many others also concluded, I wasn’t aware that there was a real “iPod music playback” problem that needed a “rack-mounted solution, but how wrong I was :-)

Fit For Sound delivers high performance audio playback and an Integrated Universal Dock for iPod in a rugged, 2U rack mount configuration. Whether you are a fitness instructor, gym owner, or installation professional servicing bars, restaurants, or large stadiums, Fit For Sound is the ideal rack-mounted solution for iPod music playback.

MixMeister Express software is included with Fit For Sound, and it takes the guesswork out of creating custom remixes. MixMeister Express helps you:

  • Create professional-quality mixes, with beat-mixed transitions between songs that sound great
  • Make a song slower or faster to achieve the tempo you need, without changing pitch
  • Trim long songs down to size or remix short songs to make them last longer
  • Add one-click special effects for even more fun ways to blend songs together
  • Create a full-length mix CD (up to 80 minutes), and export your mix to your iPod or other portable audio player

Fit For Sound was designed by recording engineers to meet the demanding needs of both small and large professional venues. Large, easy-to-read controls, RCA jacks and balanced, pro-grade XLR outputs make this the ultimate rack-mountable iPod-driven player.

Last night this blog reached, at least in my mind, an amazing 10.000 level – meaning that this blog, since its start last spring, now has had more than 10.000 unique visitors.

Thanks for your great support and let us continue to inspire the electro community with good stuff during this year.

Shout!!

Prophet'08 and Akai MPC released at NAMM

January 18, 2008 · Posted in Electronic Music · Comments Off on Prophet'08 and Akai MPC released at NAMM

Prophet ’08 Synthesizer Module

A beauty!!

The Prophet ’08 Synthesizer Module is a tabletop “knobby” module with all of the features and controls of the Prophet ’08 Keyboard (minus the keyboard, of course) in an even more compact enclosure. Includes rack ears for optional rack-mounting. The eight-voice synthesizer with the completely analog signal path brought to the table features like velocity and aftertouch as well as an arpeggiator, gated stop sequencer, and split and layer sounds.

Akai MPC5000

The MPC5000 is the first MPC ever to include 8-track streaming hard disk recording, a 20-voice, 3-oscillator analog synthesizer with arpeggiator, a new sequencing engine with 960 ppq resolution, pad and track muting and mixing, 64 continuous sample tracks. There’s even a new FX engine with 4 FX buses and 2FX per bus.

In addition, the MPC5000 features a 64-voice drum/phrase sampler with 64MB memory Ð expandable up to 192MB. The display is twice the size of the MPC2500 and MPC1000 so waveforms appear crystal-clear. Integrated Chop Shop 2.0 now supports stereo chops and Patched Phrases. The MPC5000 is the first MPC to include Random and Cycle sample playback in addition to velocity Zone Play. A turntable preamp is also included.

The MPC5000’s virtual analog synth eliminates need for external analog synth modules or buggy software based synthesizers. The new 8-track direct to disk recorder lets you produce your whole song in the MPC and then mix it down with the internal sequenced programs and any input thru material. Add the optional CD/DVD drive and you can then burn an audio or data CD or your mix. Over 650MB of premium-quality sounds from Loopmasters are included to get you up and running with pro-quality production in seconds.

Roland TR-909 now in a Flash version, LOL

January 17, 2008 · Posted in Electronic Music · Comments Off on Roland TR-909 now in a Flash version, LOL

fl909.png

FL909 attempts to simulate the original sound of the Roland TR-909. This drumcomputer hits the market 1984 and was a long time the state of art in house and techno productions. Shift-Click the Step-buttons for accent triggers. Shift-Click-Move knobs for smoother resolution. Press Save to store a snapshot of the current settings to a flash cookie. Restore snapshot by pressing Load. Clear to delete all patterns and reset all knobs. Drag and drop a pattern button (invisible) to copy a pattern to a new location.

Tempo, patterns, drum tunings, levels, and everything you need can be manipulated. Better yet, your settings can be stored and recalled. And best yet, you don’t have to buy anything or even download anything.
