This DIY Deadmau5 mask takes it the whole way
Spent 4 weeks making and 2 months planning and it all came together with a week to spare. Uses a netduino micro-controller and a bliptonics spectrum analyzer to listen to the audio played from any input. A set of computer speakers was taken apart and placed in the head as well. All if it is powered by a set of 9v batteries. When no music is being played the eyes will flash at 132 bpm, when music is on it will flash to the any strong bass notes under 100mhz.

EkoBrottsMyndigheten to ElectriXmas 2010
Swedish EBM act EkoBrottsMyndigheten (“Economic crimes Investigation Authorities”) will join this year’s electriXmas. The secretive band plays classic EBM music ála Nitzer Ebb, a video below. Unfortunately for most of you readers they sing in Swedish

The death of MySpace
Perhaps you wont agree but I am pretty convinced that MySpace has completely played out its role as the main route to market for musicians. Other initiatives like Facebook, Bandcamp, CDBaby and SoundCloud provides much greater opportunity for today’s bands to make themselves heard. Not to mention all the useless adds that tend to span and clutter the user experience of MySpace. The reason I am writing this is because MySpace has made some final spasmatic moves in the grave by redesigning the website to be more up to par with contemporary sites. Below is a video from MySpace that they hope will lure users back. I can just hope that if they succeed I sure hope they make it MUCH MUCH more easy to use and especially when it comes to re-design and customize your home page to reflect the bands cultural values and expressions.

Duracell one man band drummer
André Durace is not just drumming to the melody. He’s “playing” the melody through “triggers” in the drums. The melody is pre-programmed into the synth, he triggers the notes on the snare drum (you can hear each note playing with each strike on the drum). I think one of the tom-toms switches to the next “sequence” in the tune. His foot is doing the bass drum and also the bass synth, as you can see several times. He’s improvising a lot with the pre-set loops in the melody.
New single from OMD – Sister Marie Says
Out on November 15th is OMD’s newest single “Sister Marie Says” taken from the album “History of Modern”. But the band has now released the video for said single. The single will also be released as a limited edition 7″ coloured vinyl. This limited edition 7″ coloured vinyl includes “Sister Marie Says (Radio Edit)” and the exclusive B-side “History of Modern (part III & IV)”.

A free download demo of the track was released on 25 November 2009. Elements of the song were originally composed in 1981 and a reworked version of the track was due to appear on the 1996 album “Universal” but got shelved because it sounded too much like early OMD and was out of step with the more reflective tone of Universal.
OMD’s 11th studio album, “History of Modern, was released on 20th September 2010”. It is their first album since 1996, and the first album featuring the classic 4-piece line-up since 1986’s “The Pacific Age”. A tour to promote the album will follow in November 2010.
Alfa-Matrix continues to expand
Belgian label Alfa-Matrix has just signed its 12th artist this year: Siva Six, an electro band from Greece. Their third album “The Twin Monsters” is scheduled for 2011. Siva Six was previously on the Italian label Decadence.
The other Alfa-Matrix signings are Pouppée Fabrikk, Armageddon Dildos, amGod, Halo in Reverse, Alien Vampires, Freakangel, HausHetaere, Kant Kino, Razorfade, Schwarzblut and Studio-X. They also release Nitzer Ebb in their region.

New device originaly created for the Plastikaman Live tour
Liine has released a free Max For Live device, Kapture, that was originally created for Richie Hawtin’s Plastikman Live tour.
The sounds and sonic signatures in Plastikman Live are heavily reliant on complex configurations of sends, returns and feedback loops, as well as combinations of instrument and effect parameters. Liine’s challenge was to build a system to manage this huge number of parameters in a live scenario.
Kapture is the solution that they came up with. Similar to a preset management system for the whole of Ableton Live, it lets you “Kapture” the state of your set.

We’re now very glad to be able to release it to the public and to see how other people use it in performances and in the studio. Kapture is not a polished mainstream product but something developed for a very specific show. However, we think that it’s something that many people will find very useful if they are willing to get their hands a little dirty and tweak it to fit their setup.
We aim to continue releasing bits and pieces like this from the Liine Laboratory, more rough and ready experimental/custom devices and works in progress, alongside the polished, premium products such as Griid.
