EVOLVOR Sound Design App for Percussa AudioCubes Demo
The EVOLVOR concept – a new way of sound design and the ultimate tool to get more out of your existing synths and effects EVOLVOR is a MIDI application which generates LFO (low frequency oscillator) envelopes, and which it sends via MIDI to any hardware or software synthesizer or sound effect connected to your computer. Each envelope can be drawn using the built-in graphical envelope editors. Envelopes can be played back and looped with adjustable speed (by setting the cycle time in milliseconds).
Envelopes can lead or follow, which means that they play back by themselves (lead) or sum their own looping signal with signals from other envelopes (follow). Each of the envelopes is automatically linked to a physical AudioCube on your table, a smart wireless block capable of detecting other blocks nearby, which are also attached to (other) envelopes. When blocks are next to each other, wireless connections are formed, and envelopes will automatically sum up in the EVOLVOR software, creating completely new LFOs for your synths and effects in real-time! AudioCubes display bright colours as visual feedback, which helps to remember which envelope is where on your table.
By drawing your own envelopes and looping and summing them at various speeds, you can create ever changing sounds and sound effects, and discover new sounds you never imagined before!
Time machine: CRB DIAMOND 725 – Vintage Rhythm Box 1973
The DIAMOND model 725 is a pretty rare analog rhythm box made by CRB Elettronica, Italy. They had made some nice stuff, like COMPUTER BAND 2000 and VOCO-STRINGS.
The 725 came out 1973. Very stable metal casing – it’s built like a tank! It has 12 free combinable rhythm patterns. VOLUME and TEMPO controls.
The bassdrum and snare sound very good! The snare is more realistic than those of other rhythm boxes of that time.
Chaos All Stars – Enjoy The Silence
Swedish electro/EBM/alternative music act Chaos All Stars are to release of a cover album that is neverending: “Neverending Coverage”. Indeed, this is an album that has no limit of tracks but will instead be growing as time goes by and whenever they feel like doing a new cover. The album contains covers chosen, performed and produced by Chaos All Stars of some of their favourite songs.
The album is released on a distribution license for almost anyone to redistribute for free (as long as they take responsibility for the distribution, meaning that the covered artists get mechanical royalties). Any profits are to be donated by the distributors to charity. Chaos All Stars explain: “We want to offer these cover songs to the widest possible audience! We cannot of course do this with any release we do but we feel that we as artists have the rights to choose how we wish to distribute our recordings and this time we wanted to try a new angle.”

Background:
Ander began his journey into techno after a fabulous new years eve party in Zurich. He got hooked on the beat and traded in his earlier career as solo flutist in a Jazz band for an existence in the dark and sweaty niches of the Swiss minimal scene. His starting idea was to directly influence all his musical output at any time in space, making every single of his appearances a unique experience. So he built his own controllers and made his own software for his very own kind of live performance.
Three years ago, Ander began working on the first ancestor of Station, as he calls his live performance controller. Today he reigns over 800 glowing knobs and blinking switches and a fast growing reputation in the minimal scenes of Germany and Switzerland. Among the places he rocked so far are names such as Schatzalp, Satisfactory, Hive, Schanzenfest and Formbar.
Some guy once called Ander’s sound dubby, but you will rather find elements of minimal and strange electronica in his livesets – the only constant is it moves your ears and feet, for hours.
