Tick Tick Step Sequencer – new pattern sequencer Rack Extension for Reason
Josh Levy has released the Tick Tick Step Sequencer, a pattern sequencer Rack Extension for Reason.
Tick Tick is a polyphonic button-style step sequencer designed to control your BOOM 808 Percussion Synth as well as other Reason drum machines, and monophonically send notes to other Reason synthesizers and devices.
Chain multiple Tick Tick units together, each with its own pattern, to create complex combinations, and even entire songs.
Tick Tick includes a full beat pack by Reason Refill maker -008′. Also included are contributed demo beats, combis, and over 1,500 scales and modes.
Tick Tick Step Sequencer features
- 16 note polyphonic step sequencer, with editable names and assignable midi notes.
- Up to 32 steps per pattern, from whole notes to 1/128th notes.
- Shuffle control.
- Forward, reverse, pendulum and random repeat modes.

Ableton Live 9.1 now in public beta
Ableton made it official yesterday, with the release of a “public beta” update to Ableton Live 9, which brings dual monitor support, and a new melodic step sequencer, among other improvements:
- Live 9.1 introduces support for two windows, including the option to place the windows on different monitors.
- For Push owners, Live 9.1 introduces a brand new melodic step sequencer.
- Improved rendering: If you’re working at a high sample rate (such as 96 kHz), you can now downsample to lower sample rates (such as 44.1 kHz) with no loss in quality. Also, rendering now uses multiple cores, which can result in much faster exports.
The Live 9.1 update is available in public beta and is free for owners of Ableton Live 9.
With Push it’s simple to move between keys with the touch of a button. Explore new harmonies and phrases across 64 velocity and pressure-sensitive pads. Push’s hands-on step sequencer allows you to enter notes manually or play them in, and now you can edit automation with step-by-step accuracy.
Heaven 17 on tour in Paris
Heaven 17 are to perform for the very first time ever in Paris. Heaven 17, the band of former Human League’s Martyn Ware and Glenn Gregory, has actually never performed in France. The french band Waiting For Words will be supporting the band’s gig on November 10 at the Bus Palladium in Paris. This date is a unique event for the group and goes with the release of live CD/DVD recorded at Metropolis Studios, London.
Waiting For Words from their side are prepping the release of the double DVD “Live in Paris”.

The TR-84 has two independent 16 beat sequencers, each driving a bank of Sine-PW oscillators
and Noise-PW generators. The oscillators and generators use an interactive modulation matrix, producing a powerful complex multitude of varying tones that react to each other. Switch on the Jammer and it will improvise and interact with the sequencer taking a basic pattern in new directions. The Jammer creates a more complex rhythmic variation extending the loop cycle way beyond the original.
On the mixer side we have dynamic filters, a compressor limiter, reverbs, delays and modulated effects that can sync to the Jammer. The TR-84 has a matrix patch-bay that lets you chain effects in any order, inserting them into the mixer sends. Put all this together and you have a Dynamic Improvised Analog Percussive Loop Generator (Drum Machine) that thinks it’s a Didgeridoo. Plus……….. The TR-84 has Midi in so you can play it from your Controller or DAW.

Roland Jupiter-8 With NEA Pyxis Aftertouch System
This video shows a Roland Jupiter 8 with the New England Analog Pyxis aftertouch system.
The purpose of this particular video is to show how you can disable the lower 4 voices on the JP8 so that aftertouch wont affect them. However, using the aftertouch sensor on the lower half of the keyboard can still affect how the aftertouch modulates the upper 4 voices. This creates some interesting effects. Using “whole” mode with the lower 4 voices disabled will produce a sound much like a CS80 or something with polyphonic aftertouch.
On this particular Jupiter, there are two separate disable switches; one for disabling filter and VCA effects from Pyxis on lower 4 voices, and another for disabling Pyxis control of VCOs.

The Mk1 Modular has 5 Oscillators and 2 Sub Octaves going into a Mk1 Low Pass Filter ‘A’…the Prophecies provide ambient sounds and Tenor Saxaphone sounds.
