The same thick analog tones, meaty harmonics and modeled filters that made v1.0 so aggressive are back in spades. Over 200 new presets have been forged by the sound design team at UVI, giving you over 600 in total. Find the sounds you’re looking for quickly with convenient category browsing and explore a wide range of analog timbres and soundscapes provided by the newly updated patch library.
UltraMini 1.5 also introduces a new low-CPU mode, known internally as UltraMini LE. This new mode significantly reduces the processor overhead by replacing the dual multimode filters with dual single-mode LP filters. The new filters offers the same great sound as the original at a fraction of the CPU cost, making UltraMini a no-brainer go-to synth for classic analog sounds. The new low-CPU mode is perfect for laptop-based producers, composers working with large multitrack arrangements or anyone who needs to keep their processor use in check.
Also included is compatibility with the completely revised iLok system; now supporting computer-based authentication. Utilizing the free iLok License Manager, your UltraMini license can now be stored on a computer hard drive or a physical iLok dongle. Furthermore you’re free to move your license from computer to iLok or vice versa at will, giving you the ultimate in convenience and portability. Introducing the Prophet 12 Module, the same great sound engine of the Prophet 12 keyboard with enough portability to fit in a backpack! At twelve voices, the Prophet 12 boasts the greatest polyphony of any instrument designed by Dave Smith. Each voice features four oscillators capable of generating classic and complex waveforms, a sub-oscillator, resonant analog low-pass and high-pass filters, and analog VCAs. The new Character section adds a variety of wave shaping and sound sculpting options, like Drive, Hack, Decimation, Girth, and Air. Additional features include a tuned feedback path, a four-tap stereo delay per voice, expanded arpeggiator functionality, deep modulation capabilities, and bi-timbral operation. The LFOs, delay, and arpeggiator can all be synced, either to the internal clock or an external MIDI clock.

Analogue Solutions Christmas: Polymath Night (featuring Christine Anderson)
HAPPY HOLIDAYS FROM ANALOGUE SOLUTIONS!
Here’s some holiday synthpop action featuring the Analogue Solutions’ Polymath modular synthesizer (all synth sounds heard in the video) as well as the wildly talented and unforgettable Christine Anderson on vocals!
The track was assembled layer by layer using ONLY the Polymath as the sound source. Each track was recorded separately into Logic Pro. From the percussive analogue sequencer loops to the quirky retro leads: each sound was created specifically for use in the “Polymath Night” song and video.
The reverb heard on the instrumentation is from Polymath’s own Spring Reverb. However, some slight delay was added on a couple of tracks for effect.
Christine Anderson offers her one of a kind sound and unique abilities as a vocalist, lyricist and overall creative contributor. Her “magic” touch can be seen and felt throughout the production and her fun-loving spirit brings an overflow of charm and fun to this project! Christine is also a star on the piano and an analogue enthusiast!
The musical bed uses all original Polymath sounds and was produced especially for the holidays by Sound of Science.

Tears for Fears working on a new album
Tears For Fears have announced that they’re currently in the studio working on a new album, set for release next year. It’ll be their seventh LP, and their first since 2004’s Everybody Loves A Happy Ending. While there are no further details as yet, the news comes after the reissue of their 1983 debut album The Hurting, the first in a programme of re-releases the band have begun.
The band have also recently released a couple of covers, of Arcade Fire’s ‘Ready To Start’ and Hot Chip’s ‘And I Was A Boy From School’, and they’re marking the new album news with their version of Animal Collective’s ‘My Girls’, the Vinyl Williams-directed video for which you can watch below. Silver Apples Made EDM in the 1960s
Electronic music pioneer Simeon Coxe of Silver Apples talks about using found junk to make their music, his famed oscillations, and the group’s legendary first show ever in Central Park.

“I think the future is really ahead of us,” notes Coxe, “You’re going to see huge leaps in terms of what we accept as music.” Along with drummer Danny Taylor, Coxe created a new type of music, using found junk to create sounds that their audiences had never heard. Though Taylor died in 2005, Silver Apples lives on. Thump caught up with Coxe at the 2013 Mountain Oasis festival.
