New double benjolin analog crazy synth
Synthesizer 76 by Jonas Eriksson
Hopefully more than an idea. Before it might have called a mockup until proof of concept. Jonas Eriksson is the artist behind the design and concept of the Synthesizer 76 iPad App 2010. Nice clean graphics.

Air Guitar prototype with Kinect
British artist and designer Chris O’Shea created this Kinect Air Guitar prototype.
O’Shea explains how the Kinect Air Guitar works
Technical Details
Written in c++ using openFrameworks and openCV for image processing. Using the ofxKinect addon and the libfreenect driver on Mac. Thank you to the openframeworks and openkinect communities for enabling this to happen. A big thank you to Microsoft for bringing this technology to the mass market.
How it works
First it thresholds the scene to find a person, then uses a histogram to get the most likely depth of a person in the scene. Then any pixels closer than the person to the camera are possible hands. It also uses contour extremity finding on the person blob to look for hands in situations where your hand is at the same depth as your body. It only works if you are facing the camera front on. Then it uses one hand as the neck of the guitar, drawing a virtual line from the neck through the person centroid to create the guitar line. The other hand is tracked to see if it passes through this line, strumming the guitar. The neck hand position controls the chord.

FunkBox iPad app MIDI synced with an x0xb0x
Nice demo of the FunkBox drum machine
This is a demo showing our FunkBox drum machine iPad app synced up with an x0xb0x synth, using CoreMIDI and an iPad camera connection kit with an m-audio uno MIDI interface. This will be included as a bonus feature in the next FunkBox 2.0 update which is coming soon! FunkBox is available for iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch from the App Store http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/funkbo…
Close look at the KORG Mono/Poly
Here is a higher-quality version of the Korg Monopoly video
Vintage synth guru Marc Doty takes a look at the Korg Mono/Poly – a “mono-polyphonic” analog synthesizer manufactured by Korg from 1981 to 1984.
“It’s like playing 4 cheap synthesizers at once,” said Vince Clarke about the Korg Mono/Poly.
Features include 4 VCOs with tuning, footage (16, 8, 4, 2), waveshape (triangle, saw, pulse-width, and pulse-width modulated), and amplitude.
The main drawback of the Mono/Poly is that the 4 VCOs shared one common VCA and VCF envelope. Other drawbacks are its chipboard construction on the base and sides of the unit and the rubber contacts under the keyboard tend to wear over time, resulting in dead keys.

Slick demo of the Moon Modular
Another quick demo of the Moon Modular cv to midi converter incorporating the trigger sequencer to build patterns.
Sorry about the poor camera focus, I forgot to check carefully! :-/
Line level voltage as a control source
djnotsomuch has shared this interesting demo
Seeing the Slim Phatty retaining CV (control voltage) inputs I wondered how well line level voltage would work as a control source. The answer:
Pretty Damn Well!
This is a tutorial/demo on how I pulled this off and everything you need to know! The Moog (notes) are controlled via the MPK25 but the filter and pitch modulation is via the CV inputs.
Yes – Line level (analog) signal has voltage. I learned some of these tricks about a year ago – once thinking CV was far out and not so easy to gain control of – wrong.
The modulation of the SF can be controlled with amazing accuracy and synchronization using an application like Ableton. The possibilities are endless – I am still trying to understand where I would like to go with this idea. For now – you have the basic knowledge – please post back ideas and break throughs! Thx.

Demo of granulator Kflux for Max
Kflux is a Max For Live granulator device released by K-Devices
Kflux is a Max For Live device for granulation of sound. It’s very easy to use : it has a friendly user interface and detailed descriptions for each function/parameter.
Kflux works like a sampler : just put in your audio sample and let the granulation begins!!
Kflux can produce a wide range of sound results : streams of grains, massive granular clouds, complex textures, walls of noise, etc…
Thanks to the Max For Live total integration, each Kflux parameter is fully automatable in the Live’s timeline. No external Max objects are used in Kflux.
Project 5
Nice crisp sounds from the Prophet
