Cyndustries sawtooth animator

November 25, 2010 · Posted in Uncategorized · Comments Off on Cyndustries sawtooth animator

Our friend 7thDanSound has yet again released a couple of nice demos, enjoy

“This is a demo of how the Sawtooth Animator sounds when fed somewhat unusual inputs. It works surprisingly well with triangle and sine wave forms but I also try noise, dual oscillators, drums and chords from an Elektron MonoMachine”

“This video is a showcase of the Cyndustries Sawtooth Animator module using the LFO outputs. It has six of them and they are derived from what ever you put into the module. The speed of the LFOs vary with the input and if there is no input at all the LFOs stop so they can sort of be used as a crude sample and hold”

“This video shows how the Synthesizers.com Q106 oscillators behaves when synced to another oscillator. I have the oscillator aid module too and use its soft sync input to show how that works. I finish off by showing how voltage controlled sync works.”

Check out the Seven Mantas

November 24, 2010 · Posted in Uncategorized · Comments Off on Check out the Seven Mantas

Added Snyderphonics Manta support to SevenUpLive 2.0.x beta this weekend. The beauty here is that you get velocity sensitivity on the plates and SevenUp can use that in its pattern recorders. The Manta supports polyphonic-aftertouch as well which I plan to add to SevenUp later.

This jam was just a fast improv to show off. Everything in the track was sequenced and performed live with the Manta and SevenUpLive. Tracked to 2-track, no edits besides start and end fades.

A demonstration of our set of custom modifications for the Atari Video Music video synthesizer/audiovisualizer. The modifications involve controls to glitch out and morph the output shape/pattern, a composite video output, operation as a static image synthesizer, upgraded 1/4″ input and thru jacks for both audio inputs, and a distortion output (in which the guitar is run through in some of these clips.) For more information on purchasing a modified video music, or getting yours modified, please visit http://switchedonaustin.com/other-ins…

Download a demo of DUNE subtractive synth

November 22, 2010 · Posted in Uncategorized · Comments Off on Download a demo of DUNE subtractive synth

Synapse Audio has released a demo version of DUNE, an advanced subtractive software synthesizer instrument for Windows and Mac.

Dune is a next-generation software synthesizer plugin designed for creating music on a computer. It was developed with the highest possible audio quality in mind and offers exceptional flexibility. The latter is achieved by its modulation system, the new differential unison engine (DUNE) — hence the name.

Despite the complexity of the synthesizer, the highly optimized code allows Dune to run even on older computers. On current hardware, many instances can be run in parallel, making Dune the perfect everyday studio workhorse. Dune was tested by professional music producers to guarantee its ambitious design goals were met. It comes with high quality sounds, mostly created by professional sound designers.

DUNE will be available to purchase for Windows and Mac (VST/AU) soon. The demo version is available to download now.

Analogue Solutions Europa sequencing the Omega 8 and Perfourmer

November 14, 2010 · Posted in Uncategorized · Comments Off on Analogue Solutions Europa sequencing the Omega 8 and Perfourmer

Calvin Cardioid aka cl516 has uploaded a nice run through of the Europa

Quick video showing the Analogue Solutions Europa sequencing the Omega 8 and Perfourmer.  I really wanted the groove to be kept constant in this video.   It’s pretty much just the two synths, Machinedrum providing tempo and drums, and a little bit of Waves H-Delay.  The Europa certainly wasn’t pickup and use right away, but after reading the manual, I’m starting to get the hang of it.  Those keys on the left make it so simple to transpose or tap out a small melody.  It’s also very easy to mute tracks and switch patterns on the fly.  As for the synths, both the Omega and Perfourmer are quite handy for this type of use: Omega can have each of its 8 voices on a different MIDI channel in multi-mode, and same with Perfourmer and its 4 voices

Korg iMS20 vs original MS20 – by modul8tor

Live demo & comparison between the Korg iMS20 for iPad versus the original analog synthesizer, the MS20.
Not an academical approach, just some playing to get you the idea with some tunes.

So what’s the verdict, you may ask?
Well, its simple: if you happen to have an MS20 laying somewhere, go with that, else, buy the iMS20 and enjoy the drums section. :)

Please leave some feedback….
Go create some music!

Using a checker board as a step sequencer

November 12, 2010 · Posted in Uncategorized · Comments Off on Using a checker board as a step sequencer

Josh Silverman has provided us with this interesting demo featuring a checkerboard sequencer

This is a demo video to demonstrate the use of a checker board as a step sequencer. This video should make obvious the relationship between the position of the checkers pieces and the noises they represent and trigger. It’s still a work in progress, but for now I won’t subject you to the cacophony that is the sound of an actual game of checkers.

Aside from the kick drum, which just keeps pace on every beat, all other drum samples are triggered off the board.

In this version, I’ve implemented a Mute Region that surrounds the board. When the application sees activity in the mute region, it disables the updating of the sequencer. This way, my hand doesn’t trigger a cacophony when I move the pieces.

Nice demo of the suONio

“Alessandro Cortini who played Buchla in NIN and Scott The Harvestman maker of interesting synth modules in Seattle joined forces to make a modular patchable 2×16 sample playback machine out of alessandro’s new album and released 200 of these crazy machines into the world. Here’s my experience with one.”

Duplex Controllerism Explained

November 6, 2010 · Posted in Uncategorized · Comments Off on Duplex Controllerism Explained

Here is a short demonstration on how to use your Novation Launchpad with Renoise 2.6, with a tool called Duplex.

You can learn more about Renoise at http://www.renoise.com

New in this release of Renoise:

  • Lua scripting. Customize the app using an elegant, clean, friendly language.
  • OSC, MIDI support. Integrated control with Duplex (MIDI/OSC), native Open Sound Control support.
  • Extensive hardware support. Maybe you don’t want to write a line of code, ever. You can let someone else do it for you, and reap the rewards. Already, Renoise has native, fully-integrated support for the AlphaTrack, BCF-2000, BCR-2000, KONTROL49, FaderPort, microKONTROL, nanoKONTROL, Launchpad, Remote SL-MKII, Nocturn, Monome, Ohm64, iPad via TouchOSC… all thanks to community support for the new scripting engine.
  • Sample autoseek. Absolutely essential to making audio behave in the way it does in linear arrangement tools, the sample will play back from the position in the timeline, rather than from the beginning each time you hit play. (Seems obvious, but it’s part of making Renoise bridge tracker-style apps and more conventional, linear ones.)
  • Better performance, compatibility. Tweaked performance on Linux and Mac, expanded file format compatibility, plus 64-bit Linux, DSSI Linux support. Renoise is a reason to run Linux, and Linux a reason to run Renoise, if you hadn’t guessed that yet. No, seriously, you’ll enjoy it.

Using two grid controllers with Renoise, arranging patterns on the fly.
Special thanks to daxton for writing the step sequencer :-)
