Nice demo from Analogue Solutions

October 18, 2010 · Posted in Uncategorized · Comments Off on Nice demo from Analogue Solutions

Here’s a video demonstrating the Analogue Solutions Europa hardware MIDI sequencer [www.analoguesolutions.com] in action, re-creating a classic beat (Depeche Mode’s People are People).

The beat was created using Europa’s Internal mode (not synced to MIDI clock or using outside sequencers). An Ensoniq ASR-10 was providing the drum samples in this case.

The Europa was also used to sequence the AS Telemark synthesizer at the end of the video and uses the Europa’s velocity controls (per step key) to control the Telemark’s filter (velocity to filter).

At the end of the vid, Europa is put into External clock mode and synced to MIDI clock (DAW sequencer). At this point, Europa will start/stop when the computer sequencer starts/stops. Europa also is sending sync to the AS Oberkorn MK3 sequencer, which is controlling the SE ObieRack.

Martin Gore biography on its way

October 17, 2010 · Posted in Uncategorized · Comments Off on Martin Gore biography on its way

Whereas Depeche Mode frontman Dave Gahan already had several biographies gracing the shop shelves, neither Martin Gore or Andy Fletcher have had the ‘chance’ being selected for this treatment. Okay, Gore had his lyrics compiled in this book, but that wasn’t a biography, was it. At least for Martin Gore that’s about to change as the German freelance journalist André Boße and self declared fan Dennis Plauk wrote the book “Insight – Martin Gore und Depeche Mode: Ein Porträt” which can be ordered right here at Amazon GER).

The 240 pages book relates the life of the songwriter through which both authors ‘try to find the secret of his success’. The book is basically mostly based on press articles, interviews and TV-coverage material. Add to that interviews with fans – let’s hope those were interesting.

Keeping it quite faithful I must say, thanks to DX5 for sharing :-)

Emax power today.

Gear:
Upper and Mid: Emu Emax
Lower: Emu EMAX II HD
Right (out of screen) : Yamaha DX7 II FD.

* Sound is overcompressed due to an overloaded output from the mixer into camera preamp (it uses to compress a lot even in normal levels). Hope it doesn’t disturb too much. And yes, there is a mistake at one of the last notes :)

Martin Gore and Vince Clarke have a complete dance album in the making

September 30, 2010 · Posted in Uncategorized · Comments Off on Martin Gore and Vince Clarke have a complete dance album in the making

Erasure songwriter Vince Clarke has confirmed that he and Martin Gore (Depeche Mode) are collaborating on a dance record. Clarke already revealed on Twitter earlier this year that he and Gore would be collaborating on a track , but things have gotten a bit bigger since. Don’t expect the release to be ready soon, as Clarke noted in an interview to The Quietus “it’s going to be a long, long process. I’m emailing him my ideas and he’s emailing me ideas back and so we’re just compiling stuff that way.”

Fans want answers from Depeche Mode

September 23, 2010 · Posted in Uncategorized · Comments Off on Fans want answers from Depeche Mode

A video has popped up on YouTube where Depeche Mode fans ask – in a rather funny and cheeky way – a few things to the band. No, it’s not the rather daft idea of a B-side-compilation (you can create that yourself at home). Instead they use the 4:34 minute long video to get the band to invite a certain producer in the studio whilst recording. Have a guess who… Find out after viewing this quite funny video.

After someone had asked for a B-side-compilation we thought we also should tell Depeche Mode what WE want. 😉
If you want the same, say something and post the video everywhere. If you don’t want the same, produce your own video. If you think “how could they dare!”, calm down, watch the video again and remember what this channel mostly stands for … 😉
