Play Accordion On The iPad

March 10, 2011 · Posted in Uncategorized · Comments Off on Play Accordion On The iPad

Hohner has announced the introduction of a revolutionary new app for the Apple iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch: the Hohner SqueezeBox. Here’s what they have to say about it…

Mimicking the layout of Hohner’s iconic Corona Classic diatonic accordion, this intuitive virtual accordion app feature a super responsive, three-row fingerboard that plays and sounds like the traditional instrument. The Hohner SqueezeBox allows musicians to practice chord combinations, scales, and songs on-the-go in five different key combinations and colors. Headphones can be used for private practice or, the audio output of the virtual accordion can be amplified by plugging into computer speakers or other sound enhancing devices. Players have the option to display the note names on the large white simulated pearloid buttons and with the touch of a button, the tonality can easily be changed from “wet tuning” for a more animated sound, to “dry tuning.”

“SqueezeBox is ideal for the beginning student or professional musician who needs a simple carry-on companion to compliment his or her actual accordion” commented Accordion Product Manger Gilbert Reyes Jr. “It’s great for Tex-Mex, Conjunto, Norteño, Cajun, Zydeco, Vallenato, French Canadian, Blues, or any style of music. While not intended to replace a real accordion, the app is a convenient and easy tool for practicing, learning, or teaching.”

Pricing and Availability:
The Hohner SqueezeBox App is available on the iTunes App Store for the introductory price of $1.99 in the following key combinations: Hohner-GCF, Hohner-FBbEb, Hohner-EAD, Hohner-ADG, and Hohner-BbEbAb. The Hohner-Mini version is available in GCF for the iPhone and iPod Touch at $0.99.

Love Song Machine

February 16, 2011 · Posted in Uncategorized · Comments Off on Love Song Machine

Well Valentine’s Day is over but you can still surprise someone with a love song I guess:

Choose one of the love songs below (or compose your own) and press “Play Song” to play it on the bell ensemble in our office.

Go here to try it >>

In celebration of Valentine’s Day, Tellart is launching the Love Song Machine, a musical instrument controlled (by you) through the internet. Visitors to the website can select a song or compose their own, and press play to send the song to the instrument in our Providence office.

The bells are played by a series of solenoids, which are controlled by an Arduino micro-controller. The notes that you submit are processed on our web servers and then sent to the Arduino, while we load up live video and audio so that you can watch your song play. If there are users ahead of you in line, the queuing system will let you know how long you’ve got before you can watch your song.

The bell machine will only be available for a limited time, so start composing!

Turn Your Body Into a Musical Instrument

Turn Your Body Into a Musical Instrument – Tomy Ningen Gakki

Up to four people can play together, by holding the silver parts. When the players touch each other’s skin, sounds are created.

The way this works is: When any two of the four electrodes touch, it creates a sound. The current is conducted through the players’ bodies.

The console determines where the four electrodes are in contact, and creates a different tone depending on the position.

Async’s “Baby Scratch”, a free app that lets you sample any sound and then “scratch” it on the on-screen turntable over a handful of selectable beats

Baby Scratch is a free App available at Apple AppStore. Made a little try out as handling is pretty amazing with awesome sample sound. App has 3 build in beat loops and some samples and voice recording to scratch. Latency of scratch sounds is noticeable but still best of all checked scratch Apps.

Give it a try!

Build Your Own Antiquated Obsolete 7 Segment Display Lady GaGa / Daft Punk VJ Glasses

January 23, 2011 · Posted in Uncategorized · Comments Off on Build Your Own Antiquated Obsolete 7 Segment Display Lady GaGa / Daft Punk VJ Glasses

Fun stuff or should I say nerd stuff :-)

Long before Daft Punk’s motor cycle helmets with LED messages scrolling by or Lady GaGa’s video display glasses we were apart of a generation limited to displaying text on calculators with small indistinguishable red coloured displays……Oh Joy….. I remember as a kid running around the house showing my family how to spell words like “bOObS”, “hEllO” and “ShEll”. This was accomplished by entering in certian numbers then holding the calculator upside down…..Ah memories. It appears that 8 bit music is being intergrated into popular music each day i.e. “The Time (dirty bit) by The Black Eye Peas”. So why not build your own pair of archaic antiquated 10 digit 7 segmented display glasses. Just image you will be able to star in your own music videos or just stand out in the crowd in the middle of the dance floor. Should any drinks be dropped in your lap or thrown in your face have no fear of electrocution because these glasses can easily operate on battery power. Should you decide to be a Super Uber Geek and build your own glasses utilizing Nixie tubes than I am not resposible for your hair catching on fire or tempoary blindness caused by the 170+ volts coarsing through your temples. If you are still interseted in obtaining the schematic and PIC basic code then send me your email address.
