MachineKUNT – new exciting female electro label

April 11, 2008 · Posted in Electronic Music · Comments Off on MachineKUNT – new exciting female electro label

MachineKUNT is a new record label for female noise, electronic, and industrial musicians. Our mission is to encourage women all over the world to create electronic music. MachineKUNT was founded by Rachel (Experiment Haywire) who noticed we were strongly missing the element of independent females in the darker subcultures. She created MachineKUNT so she could connect with people: both musicians and listeners: who were ready to bring on some change.

MachineKUNT is ready for its first explosion with the upcoming release of its first compilation “Extreme Women in the Dark Future” featuring Chiasm, Neikka RPM, Noizekatt, Eva 3, Experiment Haywire, Aluminum Voyage, and Genocidio 1968 just to name a few.

Make sure to check her out and support her new electro album which from a pure electro music perspective has a very nice production going and the choice of sounds is really nice. Maybe a bit too sweet for many of you, but then again at some time point you will need to do some chilling when the EBM smoke has faded..

Btw It seems that her stay in Berlin has made some impressions – to the better, hehe

And One, the popular synth-pop band from Germany, formed in 1989 after Chris Ruiz and Steve Naghavi met in a Berlin disco. They were both fans of Belgian EBM music, so they decided to play together, using only a drum machine and two keyboards, like their musical idols Depeche Mode had. Working together they compiled a demo tape that producer Jor, who was planning on starting a sub-label off of Modern Music, happened to like. The duo met success rather quickly after that, as they were the first signed band to Machinery Records. In 1990 they released their first single, «Metalhammer».

New album from Colony 5

An album clearly worth checking out, especially since we have not been treated with much new stuff from these two guys in ages, apart from a hardly worth purchasing remix album – unless you are truly hooked

Free listening and download (pay) >>

The first single taken from the album – “Knives” – made it to #10 on the German Alternative Chart [DAC] in a very short time. On “Knives” Colony 5 presents a track that is much harder than we are used to from the band. Sure enough, “Buried Again” presents you with some harder tracks such as “Knives” and “Get Off My Back”.

But old fans should not despair! “Buried Again” is a varied album bringing you everything from EBM-inspired tracks to more danceable futurepop with dynamic and powerful refrains in tracks like “Pills” and “Ghost” and the beautiful downtempo track “Imaginary Girl”– the way we are used to from earlier Colony 5 releases.

One of my old favorite tracks:

New album from Herr A and Herr B

March 3, 2008 · Posted in Electronic Music · Comments Off on New album from Herr A and Herr B

systemsos.jpg

Swedish duo Herr A and Herr B aka System was nominated for best electronic album in 2006 for their album “Sample and Hold”. March 26 marks the release of their third CD “Self Organising System” (will also be released as a double CD in a limited edition).

About them

SYSTEM was formed in the early nineties from the ashes of the group Die von Kempelens (DvK). DvK took their name from a hungarian inventor from the 18th century and programmed up-beat minimal synth pop. DvK never released anything officially but got a small underground hit with their song “Machines in Love” which was played rather frequently at the clubs in Stockholm at the time.

Later DvK slowly shifted into SYSTEM and Herr A and Herr B, the two former members of DvK and now, the members of SYSTEM, started working in a slightly different direction. Where DvK was a hobby band, SYSTEM was for real. And where DvK songs, although being very good, were badly and sometimes sloppily produced and thought through, SYSTEMs songs were the opposite.

The two gentlemen A and B locked themselves in their laboratory for quite some time and soon a couple of demoes saw the light of day. The demoes were called (in chronological order): “Music for machines”, “Artificial intelligence”, “Human/Machine interface”, “Fuzzy logic” and “Silicon based EP”. These demoes were, however, not distributed commercially in any way and the number of copies of each is very low (probably below 10 copies/demo). Then suddenly one day someone who was organising a concert happened to hear one of the demos and he got so excited with what he had heard that he insisted on that SYSTEM should come and play at his venue – which they did.

Since this last release SYSTEM has been busy with touring and has also contributed tracks to a number of compilations both in Sweden and abroad.

Client to Debaser Feb 22nd…

…fully equipped with their new fat single “Its not over” – should be a promising event I believe, Check out their new single below:

Client’s uniform image is always inspiring :-) and a departure from the norm, maybe a bit too obvious for the sensibilites of some who think they’re exploiting their style. Take this picture for example, the trio are obviously pushing it, but is it done in an ironic way? or is it mere titilation?

Anyhow, S’Express mainman Mark Moore and top remixer ‘Kinky’ Roland Faber have turned in a very disco-danceable housey remix that ticks all the boxes.

mp3: client – it’s not over (mark moore & kinky roland remix).
