STW Audio releases REFLEX free ambience generator
STW Audio has released REFLEX free, a free ambience generator for Windows.
REFLEX free is capable of generating huge spaces, short rooms, or chorus like modulations through a cascade of regenerating delays. It’s sound is a mixture of straight stereo delays followed by a dense cloud of reflections. It achieves a huge and spacey wideness with a decent amount of the two modulation sources.

A Good Engineer [interview w/ Todd Bailey]
An interview with Todd Bailey for the Art21 blog. He’s built an open-source, retro-tinged 8-bit sampler, “Where’s the Party At?” (I’m been building the second generation now, so expect a review by early August.) He’s had electronic instrument designs on shelves at the retail chain Target and on the walls of the Whitney Art Museum in New York.
Within the underground, DIY and circuit bending communities of Chicago, NYC and elsewhere Todd Bailey is the name associated with the 8bit sampler/kit WTPA (Where’s The Party At) and other unique home-brew electronics. For the last decade, Bailey’s activities have also found their way onto the shelves of toy stores like Target and the walls of museums like the Whitney.
How to play different sounds at the same time on FL Studio MobileH
Just a quick example of how to play different sounds at the same time on FL Studio Mobile HD for iPad. Two MIDI controllers, 01 MIDIxMIDI cable, 01 MIDI x USB interface and the Camera Connection Kit. Works really nice for playing live.
There is another app running in the background (SunVox) receiving MIDI data at channel 09. So it is possible to create layers using two apps, or playing different apps at the same time with different MIDI channels.
It is just the first step for using the iPad like MainStage or BrainSpawn Forte.

MIDI using face-based interaction
FaceOSC is a tool for prototyping face-based interaction. It’s built on non-commercial open source FaceTracker code from Jason Saragih.
FaceOSC comes as an example app with the ofxFaceTracker addon for openFrameworks. You can download an OSX binary at github.com/downloads/kylemcdonald/ofxFaceTracker/FaceOSC.zip
OSCulator is an excellent program for routing OSC and MIDI. Download it at osculator.net/
Some of the “face gestures” (or metrics) are more stable than others. Lighting can also have a huge influence on the stability of your values: even lighting from the front coupled with a dark background can give the best results.
Circuit Bent Korg Kaossilator KAOSS BOX
Circuit Bent Korg Kaossilator – KAOSS BOX. Complete with a break-out box that contains switches used to circuit bend the memory rom chip thus creating distortion and glitches in the synthesizer playback. Also inside the break out box is an LTC precision oscillator used to speed up and slow down the fixed frequency crystal, this allowing for analog pitch control via a knob. It is also possible to use a Photo-resistor instead of the potentiometer this allowing for theremin like operation of the unit.

1/4″ Jack to hook up to Homemade sequence
I’ve been struggling to come up with a video for this, so I decided to just go for it and do a simple jam to show what the unit can do. It starts of a bit slow but gradually gets better. The glitch bends can do alot more but I think you get the idea. I will do another vid with it hooked up to my sequencer soon.

The Alesis Andromeda A6 is a 16-voice, 16-channel multitimbral analog synthesizer by Alesis which was released in 2000 and discontinued in 2010. The Andromeda A6 is a true analog synthesizer using two analog oscillators per voice, sub-oscillators, hard and soft sync and more! It features 16-voice polyphony. With the Andromeda, you’ll find a huge range of tonal possibilities: searing leads, warm pads, fat bass lines, extreme sound effects and more. And of course there are plenty of knobs (72) and buttons (144), even an assignable ribbon controller for addictive hands-on real-time control! The large high-resolution LCD display is excellent and shows you actual rather than relative values of parameters. Andromeda will integrate seamlessly into any studio with its total MIDI control and sync, individual voice outputs, stereo outputs and several audio inputs.
Andromeda is completely analog – no emulation! It features two analog filters per voice that sound great! They are a multimode 2-pole and a 4-pole lowpass. External audio can be routed through these filters too (three 1/4″ jacks)! As for modulation, Andromeda has three LFOs, each with six waveforms and they can be synced to MIDI clock. And there are three 7-stage envelopes with very creative and flexible functions. Also onboard is an extensive mod matrix for enormous freedom in configuring Andromeda’s sounds!
No analog synth would be complete without a set of classic effects and features. Andromeda also offers Portamento with nine slopes and legato functions. A built-in arpeggiator and analog-style sequencer are available, with MIDI sync! There are also some high quality digital effects such as reverbs, chorus, echo, distortion and more! Andromeda comes with 256 breathtaking preset patches plus 128 user. A PCMCIA-format memory card slot allows for additional programs and mixes.
